Cute, but pitch detection is a bit off
I’m a trained singer and gave this a whirl out of boredom. I found my scores were better when I would push the note and be slightly above the originally played notes. I guess it’s fine for learning basic sight reading theory, but if your looking for perfect pitch training, look elsewhere. Show more

    Sight reading help
Definitely helps with sight reading. I learned music by ear in the formative years of my life using the Yamaha method for piano. I did not start sight reading until I started violin at the age of 12, but I didn’t sight read with the notes in mind, it was more so related to where I put my fingers when in first position. I’ve never been great with singing, but practicing singing the note names as I sight read is very helpful and I’m sure it will translate to playing and sight reading music for other instruments. Not very rewarding
If there were a way to modify pitch and meter sensitivity to a broader range, this could be a fun app, but as it is, it’s disheartening and the opposite of addictive. Show more

    Does not work with Bluetooth
Useless because I can only listen on my iPhone speakers. I have my AirPods connected and it still plays sound through the speakers.

    Excellent app for singing
I love this idea. I need it in an iPad app for the piano instead. If I was a vocalist this would be great ?

Good Concept. But flawed grasp of how the singing voice functions.
It’s okay and a useful tool. But is a bit short sighted when considering how different voices work. And has a hard time reconciling heathy vibrato in pitch variation and healthy tessitura for different singers. Just because C major is easy to play on the pink does not make it an easy key to sing in. Especially if you have a high tonic. And simple octave displacement does not help because it forces the singer to use an uncomfortably low place to make room for the whole exercise costing them precious points. Good app concept. Flawed execution. Would like to see a rework. Show more

Is my keyboard out if tune, or is the scoring system in the app bogus?
Mixed feelings. I love the idea of an ear training app that makes me sing rather than just identifying what I hear (earpeggio). But the scoring system is clearly bogus... I used my keyboard and the pitch needle was always dead center but the scores were only in the 75 range. As long as you don't care so much about the actual score, the app should be pretty useful. almost perfect
this app does so many things on the money that i feel the need to bring up some minor issues. i’m a bass-baritone and i notice that when singing around E2 the microphone has trouble picking up the note, and completely falls dead at Eflat2. my second qualm is the lack of solfège. it would really help. someone else in the comments mentioned that it’s unforgiving with vibrato which i slightly agree with. besides that this works phenomenally. The game aspect makes it fun to try to get 3/3 stars each time. i still highly recommend this. Show more

    No instructions
It was not clear at all how to even use this and after spending too long being frustrated trying to figure it out I just deleted it.

    It’s OK
It’s OK. The thing I don’t like about this app is it punishes you for trying to learn from your mistakes. This goes against the growth mindset and current best teaching practices. Show more

    NO VIBRATO ALLOWED!!!!!!!!
This app is kind of ridiculous because it doesn’t let you have any sort of vibrato at all. It makes you sing it completely straight tone, and as a professional singer, that’s not only hard to do, but just plain wrong technique. The Exercises are fun and the progression of them is good for students, but if you want to have young students do these exercises, Singing straight tone like that isn’t healthy for young singers to get in the habit of doing. If you have vibrato it takes off points for “intonation” as it reads vibrato as wrong notes. Not a good app for young singers or to work on proper technique!!!! Show more

    Needs Solfege
This app is ALMOST perfect, if you can add a feature that teaches solfege, this will be the app I use to teach students solfege.

The free sight singing app I’ve been looking for
So far, this app rocks. I was out of practice for a long time on my sight singing, but this app is helping me get that skill back! It’s intuitive and the exercises are good. They’re not repetitive either so you don’t have to worry about memorizing the exercises if you use it a lot. I like that it records you and plays you back instantly, with the piano notes and your pitch on a line graph. Really keeps you honest. Right now I don’t have a voice teacher to give me feedback, so it’s essential that I be able to hear myself. This app can be useful for any level. I could see it helping a beginner who wants to learn to read music, an intermediate musician tuning their ear, or even an advanced musician who requires dynamic sight reading drills. It helps to be familiar with key signatures and their relative minors, or have a cheat sheet handy. Show more
