    Good, but
It’s creative, but this app lacks data hierarchy structure to organize samples within the library. Should just be able to import folders. This is annoying because I have a lot of sample libraries which I’m not going to spend hours trying to organize them again for this one app. In that way I’m disappointed that I’m not getting as much out of it as I would like. Minus 1 star for price gouging those who had P1 but were offered no upgrade, additionally the sync on P1 stopped working for me when P2 came out. Show more

Worthy update to a 5-star, essential, all-time iOS app
My four stars is based upon this being an update to the classic Patterning, not as a stand-alone app by itself. The new features are great, but it's pretty much a sequel and as such there's no way it could match the magic of the first. Happy to pay for the new stuff, but nothing groundbreaking here like before. Hint: in iOS settings, you can opt to revert to the default colors (instead of this bland new crap) to make the app as fun as it's always been. Show more

Insane MIDI CC for Hardware Synths??
For me, the only thing missing from the original Patterning was being able to assign whatever Midi CC # value to control my hardware synths. Now I can automate any parameter easily! That would have been enough for me, but he took it to the next level, because you can have different midi channels per track, and assign different midi cc values on every track!!! It’s insane. Powerful and intuitive
At last a viable alternative to using highly limited drum drops in our keyboard. We are already using Patterning 2 in our home studio. Still trying to learn and use its full capability. You can search for drum patterns on line and find neat examples of various popular beat patterns, then recreate them in Patterning 2. Then use them with modifications for your tastes and music needed. Show more

    Yes it is worth it...
Has enough new features to justify it being a new app. Random, better midi, pitch quantization with scale, and really slick ratcheting for starters. Better polyrhythmic implementations. Few quirks here or there but right out of the gate it’s a solid release. Used on both iPad Air and iPad Pro without issue. Well done. Show more

So deep, and one of the few apps to control my keyboard!
There’s quite a lot of different things with this amazing monster, but it’s rare for one to actually control my keyboard! Plus all the drum kits are a good thing for endless combinations. But there are some things I hope will come soon. I want more coarse velocity editing. You can keep your volume even, and it can go a long way with external speakers. Also, hopefully we can create polyphonic sequences with one track, and have more overall tracks to boost the already enormous level of combination. Perhaps shading a part with different shades of blue to let you know more notes are in the step? Or note names? And lastly for now, more color themes would be cool if you ever wanted this flavor in green. The only downside to such an expressive and addictive drum machine is the drum kits can repack over 300 MB if you have them all! Hopefully the kits won’t exceed a gigabyte, since space is valuable. If I ever have more ideas on future updates, I’ll have to find a contact to post more suggestions! Hopefully you upgrade to 2, cause this one’s better than the original! Show more
