    Sign up process too tedious
Requires a long and complicated account sign up before using, takes you to a website and can’t be done in the app

Solid, well-designed app. Amazing variety of content.
One of the best platform experiences out there.

    Love it
Always love radio 4+ programs. The thrillers, comedies, dramas and laughs get me through my days! App runs smoothly too, not annoying so far

    Terrible design
Edit: And in landscape mode on the iPad the volume controls are reversed! ??? This app has the worst interface. Navigation is scattered all over the place. Options to create and delete bookmarks and subscriptions are inconsistent. It takes two or more clicks for play to work. Episodes are listed sometimes by date, sometimes alphabetically. And the app has its own favorite places. Find something you want to listen to and step away for five minutes; the app will have changed back to a different page. And why can’t I bookmark a program before it is broadcast? Plus, no software volume control?!!! Show more

    A little bit of home
In sunny California, this wonderful radio station provides me with a delightful variety of programs from classic literature, fascinating documentaries and even some memorable classic BBC programming from the 1950s to which my family became routinely drawn to after a big Sunday roast dinner. I don’t think I could be happy without my daily dose of nostalgia. Show more

    BBC Sounds
I am a Brit living in California and since I was not able to get to London during the pandemic, this radio station has been even more of a lifesaver for me. As well as the musical content, it keeps up my accent and my vocabulary. My favorite programs are Composer of the eeek, Wigmore Hall concerts and I can hardly wait for the. Proms to start again. Thank you! Polly 92677 Show more

    Excellent App
Would love the ability to install this app on my Apple Watch so I can listen to music while I’m running and don’t have my phone on me!

    News from around the world
My husband and I have been listening to Global News on the BBC since COVID hit the scene. We live as expatriates in a West African country for most of the year, but we’ve live in a variety of places during our married life. We’re still very interested in what’s going on in those places & Global News provides us with some of that information. BBC tends to be pretty balanced but they do have a slant on certain issues. As with any news service it’s important to listen with discernment & get a variety of inputs. But Global News is one we happily add to our information resources! Show more

    It’s a free public service
    Great app. And it’s free.

BBC Radio 4, Wales, Ulster, Scotland
I listen to different programmes on each of the above stations and love them all. Particularly enjoying the selection in honor of the Queens Platinum Jubilee which is being broadcast just now. I grew up listening to radio. We did not have a TV in our house until I was 9yrs old. I remember as a very young child listening to Mothers Hour. That programme introduced me to the power and love of the story. Thank you BBC Sounds for bringing me continued pleasure, even though I now live 6,000 miles away from the UK. Show more

    Could be better
The Android version displays track listings and more data. Why can’t the IOS version do this? I can’t find out what the new music is I am listening to. Frustrating.

    WW One: The Cultural Frontline
My grandfather Gordon Steele was highly decorated in WW1, among the first Americans to join the Allies fighting Germans on the Western front in the 2nd Division, first in the bloodied woods at Chateau-Thierry outside Paris, France in June 1918. My uncle Gordon Steele was a WW Two pilot & POW, twice shot down over Germany, who subsequently married an English woman, who had survived the Blitz and whose husband had been killed in action. My British aunt & my uncle remained in UK, quite exotic to me. Always forever curious about the worlds they inhabited, the bits & crumbs of her & their past they would seldom reveal. This was an extremely wonderful, insightful series that fleshes out much of what they most certainly would have been exposed to or that appeared familiar to me, what could be gleaned throughout their brief, extraordinary lives. Thank you so much, BBC for making this history available for all!! Show more

    Pay Attention
…because if you need to get something repeated there is no way to rewind for ten or twenty seconds. Whilst I have no doubt that Omar Khayyam would have loved it I thought we were no longer imprisoned by the immutable forward march of time. Show more

    Long live the Beep
Lining in the United States, and when sojourning in Jamaica, the BBC Sounds app (and the former iPlayer) is an excellent source for content - music, news, talk. And who[ever] put [Guy] Garvey on the air, thanks a bunch! Show more

NOTHING ON THE WEB, AIRWAVES OR STEAMING IS AS EXTENSIVELY ECLECTIC ENLIGHTENING & EXCELLENT!! … And that’s just radio three! I am pulled over by how incredible extensive always is and it’s absolutely free to the Global public as a gift Show more

Nothing like it in the US!
I love the BBC radio app and recommend it all the time to friends and family. I absolutely adore the wide variety of dramas and gardening shows, and interviews with interesting people. My favorites are Poirot, miss marple, Home Front, John Shuttleworth and Charles Paris, but there’s so much more! Thank you, BBC, for your fantastic programming. Show more

BBC2 is a part of my life
As a Brit living in the US where it’s almost impossible to find A decent radio station, I couldn’t live without BBC Sounds. Such a great mix of music and I love the DJs. Couldn’t get up in the morning without Zoe Ball even though we’re eight hours behind. Show more
