If it worked it might be nice
Having put up with the bugs of Amarra Symphony 3 +iRC for years I thought I'd try Amarra 4 Lux. I was excited to see an iOS remote available. It looks like it could be good, but it doesn't work well, if at all. The functions that did work are excruciatingly slow (waiting to page through lists which should scroll smoothly), but most functions don't function. I'm using this on an iPad Pro and fast Mac so can't blame the hardware. Amarra sounds great when it works. I hope they fix the bugs in v4, unlike v3, but this app lends no confidence. Show more

    This Is Silly
They can’t even pretend this app works. I know I have a large collection (around 4000 cd’s). But it just doesn’t work...it’s obsessed with certain albums and plays what it wants when I choose something...and my collection is impeccably tagged... They make some of the best sounding software...not the best working or the most intuitive...It’s too bad... Show more

    Still buggy
Downloaded the app and trial of ver 4 lux. I must say version 4 offers considerably improvement over the version 2 I’ve been using. The app works to control amarra but only sometimes. The connection to the computer is often lost. Sorting by album works then it doesn’t. This will be a nice app someday but right now it’s a beta release. Show more

    Doesn't stay connected
The app opens fine then quits working. Doesn't stay connected. Just sits there. VERY disappointing.

    Terrible
This app is terrible, and Amarra 4 is terrible. No album art work, app is so buggy and laggy it's unusable, and it crashes Amarra when you use it. I'm shocked that they released this remote and Amarra 4, because obviously other one is ready, not even close. Show more

    A Huge Step Backward AVOID!
Got sucked into purchasing yet another Amarra upgrade (Amarra 4...) promising to cut the cord from iTunes. I downloaded it as well as this application and they both are horrible, not near ready for use or release. Amarra 4 scanned my song list (slowly) then failed to save it when I closed it. I had to repeat the process again the next time I opened it, then it crashed. This app is no better, as neither this app or the software showed my album art, and it failed to control my music anywhere near as nicely as Apple Remote does. This app is a huge step backwards toward Remote 1.0 and 2010. Don't bother! Show more

    Want to like it
Seems like it has potential but it's been around for a while? Search, like the Amara for Tidal mac desktop app, takes well over 60 seconds to return inconsistent results. The EQ is pretty nice to have but doesn't stick and my user preset can't be accessed due to poor UI design. I've had no issues really with connecting and controlling my computer with the mobile app barring those few times when pausing/playing didn't change the desktop playback state. Show more

    Don't waste your time
The remote won't pair with the Amarra SQ+ player on my laptop, and of course navigating the labyrinth of Sonic Studio videos and FAQs for help is akin to searching for a needle in a haystack. I would give this zero stars if I could. Which is all too bad, because I love the Amarra and Amarra SQ+ players. Show more

Any sonic benefits are over shadowed by a sluggish response and buffering
Having a remote interface is necessary unless you like having the tv on all the time. I am rating this 2 stars because it does function, But this better improve quickly if this is going to gain traction over using tidal's own interface. The response time is very frustrating and the app doesn't have the ability to remember the album lists. So if you close the app and reopen you have to wait for all your album lists to refresh all over again. Opening the app scrolling to an album and then streaming it over my fast wifi can take several minutes and that's if nothing crashes in between. I do like not needing to have the tv on while I am streaming tidal but this needs improvement! Any sonic benefits over the standard tidal site in my opinion aren't worth the added frustration of using this app and the Amarra for tidal software. The software gets 2 stars as well for the same reasons. Show more

    Getting better
I've finally got the pairing down, but I still think the app crashes a bit too often. The app is certainly designed around listening to selections you've previously discovered and not so much for finding new music. The functions are all there though. The app does tax my machine so disabling all the non-essential routines is mandatory for me. This will do for now. The sound quality of Tidal with Amarra can't be faulted. Show more

Finally! This is the icing on the cake
Wow, makes using Amarra for Tidal so much better. Now I don't have to be near the computer to control the music. I can see all my playlists and all my individual tracks on my iPhone Easy to pair the phone IF you follow the directions. Both computer and phone MUST be on the same WiFi network and you must pair with the 4 digit code. Show more

    After upgrade it won't pair
I upgraded to Amarra for Tidal 2.0.1238 using a fresh install (simple upgrade crashed repeatedly) mainly for the remote app. After downloading the app and finding the remote setup (bottom of left column) it says v2.0 is required and I should upgrade. I just did that. Little help from developers please? Love this product and really want the remote app to work! Show more

    It works, and well
As of this writing on Jan 14, this app works. Tonight I downloaded the new version of 'Amarra for Tidal' to my MacBook and when I checked to see what this new update brought, I saw that the remote functionality that many users have been waiting for has been released. Now, the OSX AfT app is buggy, not very pretty beyond the surface, and a pain in general... but it sounds nice so many of us audiophiles are willing to be what they call "early adopters" in the tech world. Yes, this common releasing of unpolished work is not going anywhere, for many books actually advocate this way of developing technological solutions. So, while your music sounds better, your interface with said software will be slow to deliver the same level of polish of the actual TIDAL app. That said, this remote app (I guess because of the developer kit for iOS devices) seems more polished and fluid than the desktop experience. While your simply remote controlling the desktop app, it is a great asset to your listening experience and is worth downloading. ??. One bug I found immediately is an extension of the desktop software, and that is that my multiple hundred of track playlists don't show all the tracks included when you open them. I see that It recognizes they are there, but they do not show up unless you attempt to reload the playlist several times. Polish polish polish, and this will be a lovely app soon. Show more

No where to pair the remote
As mentioned by previous post. No where to pair the remote to Tidal software. I just downloaded Amarra for Tidal on my MAC, got my TIDAL subscription and loaded the remote. Everything is the latest version on all devices. Typical of this "anyone can throw stuff out there" world we are in. Let the consumer do the testing. Pathetic. Show more

    How does this work?
Where in the desktop app does in enter the pairing code???? Unless someone can show me as of this date, Jan 4, 2016 how they pair the app with the desktop, then I believe (and I could be mistaken) that any other review is a lie and a fraud. No info on Amarra's support page. Show more
