    Does not work
Do not waste your time on this. I have wasted hours trying to get this to work and it won’t. Marshall dropped the ball on this. I have tried everything to get this to work with my new code25 Amp. Do not expect this to make for an easy interface to control your Amp. All it does is cause headaches and frustration. Show more

    Loses Bluetooth Connection
I love the app and it’s basic premise to be able to change the various settings on the tones and emulated pedals. But my iPad has to be within 2 feet of the amp for it to work and that’s super annoying! I usually will pick it up and make changes in it but I have to literally just have it sit on top of the amp for it to work sometimes. Pointless to have Bluetooth if I keep losing connection. Might as well just use a long cord to connect to the amp to the iPad. Pleas fix this issue!! Show more

    Frustrating Bluetooth pairing
I have to “forget this device” before repairing the amplifier with my phone every time. And the App doesn't detect the amplifier when scanning for it.

    When it works, it’s great
Traded for a used Marshall code 50. Love the amp. The app connected at first on my iPhone 11, but once it was disconnected, has never worked since. Phone shows connected, but app doesn’t sync. Show more

    Just awful
Idk who Marshall hired to design this Bluetooth operability but they should fire the whole team. This is not functional.

    Lost my favorite pre-set
Now don’t think I’m hating on my Marshall Code100, I bought this app because I thought it would be cool which is what the guy from Sam Ash said, then I wanted to move the DSL Clean preset next to the Metal Edge preset, then I ended up having both #9 and #10 be a DSL Clean Preset, following up with it not connecting to my code after a few tries, so now all I can do is try to re-download the Metal Edge ore-set or waste money on a pedal, and yeah please make some arrangements. By the way when I quickly downloaded this I didn’t bother to look at the other reviews and ratings so this should tell you enough, as a semi-long paragraph. Show more

    User Friendly
This app makes the Marshall Code very user friendly. You can design your own custom rigs or use one of the 100 awesome factory presets. You can also double that with the app by having 100 saved to your amo and another 100 on your phone. This app is pretty awesome and one of the reasons I chose the Code amplifier. Show more

    In Desperate Need of Updating
This app is so outdated especially compared to the control app for fender products, which gets constant updates. When you tweak settings on the amp it doesn’t transfer to the amp. It’s also not that simple to navigate, it would be nice if everything worked properly and looked sleek. Please, please update this app. Show more

    Good idea poor execution
This app is very convenient and laid out well. When it works it’s easy enough to use. That said there is legitimately less than a 50% chance it will work. You can use it and come back an hour later and it will not connect. You can be pair in your settings but the app will not connect. Log out unpair the device as many times as you want it simply will not work. It decides when it wants to work Show more

Bluetooth doesn’t work. App will not open.
I have a Marshall Code 50 and the app was connecting, then suddenly lost connection and will not reconnect. I deleted the app, downloaded again, and now the app won’t even open. All I get is a small red line across my iPhone screen, and a line of text which is unreadable. Frustrating as the concept is great, and I had some presets saved (which are presumably lost now), but in practice the concept doesn’t work. If I could give no stars I would. Marshall makes great amps, but so does Vox and Orange... Show more

    Horrible
Horrible UX, buggy. Please hire somebody who knows iOS.

Pretty cool but having some trouble with it
The concept is awesome and I really like what they have done here. That being said I just bought this amp today and really want to be able to use the Bluetooth feature with this app and I can’t because the app is not letting me sign into my Marshall account. I just created it and I’m also having trouble on their website also. It’s not letting me download any presets and when I log in I’m not seeing my profile or anything and it keeps asking me to register again and then says that email is already registered. Can I get some help here? Would really like start trying to download presets from your website to my phone. Show more

    Connectivity is awful!!!
The app works great... when it works. But he Bluetooth connection is ridiculously bad - if it can find the amp at all, it drops the connection so frequently as to be worthless. So frustrating! Show more

    Update the app!
This app was okay at best when it was working, but they can’t even update a graphics package for ios 13

    Bluetooth never stays connected
I find myself having to reconnect the Bluetooth to connect the amp to my phone. Takes 4 or 5 tries to get it to connect. Really frustrating because I am spending more time trying to connect that playing. Works fine when connected but below average. Show more

    Frustrating!
This would be AMAZING...if the app and amp could stay connected, or if I could use my iPad instead of just my phone. I tried everything I could find online and it won’t connect to my iPad. I was forced to used my phone, but it keeps disconnecting, irritating when you’re trying to adjust settings for sounds and have to start over and over and over. FIX THIS CRAP! Show more

Good things are worth waiting for
This was a headache getting it connected. If you have ever connected it and had a problem reconnecting take this advice. Go to settings in your Bluetooth and the Marshall device and choose Forget this device. If you don’t do this you’ll probably end up like me wasting I half an hour trying to connect. As soon as I deleted my original pair and choses new one I connected to the app without any difficulties. Now this is where it gets good. If you were old like myself or just have a bad vision then this app is a must have! It’s so much easier adjusting settings on my iPhone or iPad rather than on the amp itself because with the backlit and small print it is so hard to see. One last thing and I really hope Marshall reads this; my very first marshal was purchased in 1975 and throughout my life I have probably owned upwards to 20 or more Marshall amplifiers loving just about everyone of them. I am a sucker for tubes and among those who love glowing glass? tubes are just the essence of good tone but we are in the 21st-century and have all kinds of micro chips to enhance our lives. Yes… A so-called transistor amp sounds as good as a tube amp nowadays! I am particularly fond of my code 100 H because it captures all the tones of any Marshall I have ever owned and a few that I only dreamed of. Thank you Marshall! Jim would’ve been really proud! The long awaited update made a bad thing worse.
When I got the notification that, after actual years, Marshall had finally (!) updated its Gateway promising “improved Bluetooth connection” I was excited enough to take my Code 25 out of the closet for the first time in months. Finally, maybe the fun of the amp would out weigh the frustration of using it. It took almost no time to realize, unfortunately, this is not the case. Gateway, as the name suggests, is meant to be a gateway between the amp and all the cool effects you’re supposed to have access to. It’s also the key to the customization you’re supposed to be able to do, in order to get the effects you want, the way you want them. For this to work, obviously, you need to be able to establish a connection between the amp and the app. This is where Marshall has consistently fallen short. The Bluetooth connection has never been reliable. First, pairing with iOS has never been easy. It NEVER works through the app. I always had to re-pair with the amp every, single time I used it. (This is how an amp winds up in a closet.) Every time, I had to go through the cumbersome process of My device> Settings > Bluetooth > Code Amp> Forget this device> Turn on amp > ready for Bluetooth connection > hope it connects the first time > hope it stays connected through your session. To emphasize...every time you want to use the amp you must first must tell your phone/iPad ‘forget this device.’ As if pairing with the amp is a trauma that must be forgotten before it could be done again. What changed with the new, years-in-the-making update? Absolutely nothing. Still finds the amp, but won’t connect it using Gateway (error message always says something about I need to already be connected to...it doesn’t matter what it says, because it’s wrong). Still won’t pair automatically, even if you have that checked in the app, even though it’s listed right there among your device’s recognized Bluetooth options. You still have to say, ‘Forget this device’ and start all over again. There’s no reason to believe Marshall cares about this. There is clearly little time/resources being spent on fixing it. It’s just not a priority. The Code Series is a fun idea that Marshall was either never very interested in or lost interest in. And now, so have I. I’m not even wasting the closet space anymore. I’ll sell it for what I can get for it and, like Marshall seems to have, will move on from this little experiment. Show more
