Guitar Companion

While we've received alot of great feedback about Guitar Companion, there were some complaints. "In landscape mode the fretboard is backwards!", people complained. "What about lefties?", several of you asked. "How about European notation?" "This isn't really a teaching app." We've fixed a lot of these problems. The fretboard now turns the correct way on the iPad landscape. Lefty mode for Lefties. European and Japanese notations. The "teaching app" part is more difficult. But we have come up with a couple of tools that we'd love you to check out: * Patterns - learn scales up and down the neck, and cool ways to play them. These are almost like song idea generators. Seriously, randomly switch through a few, and see if you start to hear a song. * Favorites - create songbooks. Jot down interesting chords (or scales) you're trying to remember. We've also simplified the pricing. The All Access Pass gives you everything. Ad free, all the skins and beat packs, all the alternate tunings. And in the new Patterns feature, you'll see some "advanced" patterns - these are also included with the All Access Pass. And just think - if we can sell enough of these passes, we can make a living at it, and spend all day thinking about how to make YOU a better Guitar player. It's like... seeing into the future, and being awed at how good a guitar player you've become. In the future, Guitar Companion keeps getting better and better, and you use it, like, all the time. Future You seems really happy. And your future self looks at you through the time portal, and happily shouts "It's worth it! The All Access Pass is totally worth it!" And like before, there are some other features worth mentioning: - Huge lists of chords and scales, and a ton of alternate tunings - Zoom mode. See everything bigger. - On the neck, display notes, intervals, finger positions - Metronome and drum beats. Accompany thyself. (Beats go great with Patterns, by the way!) - Manually strum the chords (and now scales), and hear how it's supposed to sound - Skins. Several flavorful colors to choose from - Tuner pegs. Simple. Effective. Within the mathematical reaches of our programmer. Thanks for checking us out! We would love to hear what you think of Guitar Companion, and things you need that would make you a better Guitar Player.

Great tool for beginner Guitar and Ukulele player
Would give it 5 stars if you can fix the alternate ADGCEA tuning you call “baritone” in your App which is not linear so it can be effectively be used for the guitalele. The C jumps one octave higher while the other notes are a properly ascending. Or maybe add an alternate tuning for the gutarlele/ guilele which are becoming more and more popular now. I upgraded to “all access” on both the guitar and ukulele apps. These are really amazing apps and potentially the only one needs for the guitar or ukulele with the built in tuners, chord and scale charts, a decent metronome with rhythm patterns. Show more

    Infinaut’s fix please!
So far I’ve found the d7 and bm are missing a note at the top of the neck and when I display all cord notes in settings there is a floating ghost note or two to the left of the headstock. This app is really awesome for learning guitar, really brilliant but needs a small update. Show more

    Don't buy Tunings
Half step down Tuning calls what would be Bb7 as A7. Moreover, some of the notes sound displaced up an octave.

Better than others but is missing something BIGGGG
First off let me say that although I only give it 3 stars it's better than the others because when I rotate the screen the fretboard stays put and the chart moves....being left handed and having the low e on top makes this better than all the others because I haven't seen one that does that... What it's missing is a circle of fifths wheel...I mean Jesus....can't anyone get it right?you put a relations wheel on here and you get 5 stars...it's a couple of other tweaks it could use like staying in the same vicinity when I change notes....I juuuust want to shift....I don't want to hit the stupid arrow to get back to the same chord shape....Jeeeesus Christ!!!....it's irritating!!!!..one app does this but it's missing that....the other app does that but it's missing this....I would think a circle of fifths be standard but what do I know. And reverse chord lookup might help too duuhrrr. Show more

    Outstanding App
A lot of great features. I especially love the ability to save custom chord groups. I just wish it had the ability to let me choose the notes on the fretboard and have the app display the chord. I'm learning from a jazz guitar book and some of the weirder chords aren't in the default groups. (D13b5b9 for example) Show more
