Dandy is an intuitive and amazing sampler/synthesizer for iPhone. It really is a quirk, mind bending interactive composition with highly inspiring endless possibilities though very simple and sleek. Portable Dandy is inspired by Dandy Desmonds composition “Magnetic Loops for 15 Tape Decks” from 1938. Which is one of the earliest known works of electroacoustic music, rediscovered just 5 years ago. - Pitch Jog Wheel - scratch The Wheel with two fingers - psychedelic sound effects - up to 28 changeable samples (manage via iTunes) - Shake to restore original pitch. - AudioBus Proudly made by east-german hackers. "Portable Dandy is a very nice app, just spent some time with it and really enjoyed the sounds." & "It's a great app that we look forward to spending more time with" -- BoulangerLabs "Portable Dandy comes with a really original UI, and is really funny to use... A Super App for Free at this moment. So don't hesitate to download it!" -- Apps4idevicesMusic

    Bizarre but I love it
Who knows what’s going on under the hood of this thing but it’s awesome.

    Dr. Who? Dandy
This is best of tape edit 1940s simulator. Forbidden Planet, Dr.Who, Dutch Masters of tape edit. I love this app. Highly Recomended.

    Different but broken :(((
I got a little medicinal one night and played with this thing for like two hours. I gotta say it’s very different, unique, super fun, but, when I try to record into my DAW the sound doesn’t sound even close to the same. If that was fixed and it was pretty seamless I think I’d actually pay a little bit for this app. Oh yeah and maybe some kinda stop/start and reset button would be cool. Show more

    Clearly Abandoned
It technically opens and runs, but there’s a problem with sample rate conversion or something which causes every sound to have a very loud and sharp buzz, preventing any sort of enjoyment. A bummer because it’s such a unique app. Show more

    Interesting is an understatement
I wish I could find more about this, but there isnt a whole lot of literature out there! Interesting concept: Manipulate samples as you would on a magnetic tape player. Very avant-garde, not for someone who thinks Pop is the paragon of music. Id hope to see more developement on this, with the ability to record your own samples and not just upload! Some grainy monotone, lo-fi recordings through the mic would be interesting! It DID crash on my 6 with 8.3, but only once. It opened right afterwards and was fully functional. So there is hope that it does work! Show more

    Crashes
iPhone 5, iOS 6.1. I know, outdated, but everything else works... Shows title screen for a second or two, then crashes. Tried troubleshooting (power off/on, closing other apps, re-downloading, etc.). Will rate up when I can play with it, looks to be amazing :) Show more

    Artfull and cool
This app has a lot of personality. It's simple but especially when plugged into audiobuss can make for some cool lofi beats. I personally love the hand drawn UI.

    Nice update n' all....
With the Audiobus support, but it's kinda a "cart before the horse" type of thing, considering that the only way to add custom samples is via iTunes. Dropbox support or Audiocopy/paste should have been the first move. Show more

    Trippy...
If you like Noisemusick, DROM, B.Machine and the like, you'll love this. Now get on the bus~!
