Timeslicer

You can think of a two part polyrhythm as two sets of accents on a fundamental pulse common to the two rhythms. If you’d like to think of polyrhythms that way, wow—are you ever lucky to find this thing! You can feel and count these smaller even beats instead of just trying to feel the fractions directly. Timeslicer shows you all these counts in action. You can even set it up to hear that underlying pulse, if you want. You can set the sounds and rhythms and tempo of the beats you'd like to practice. Then listen, watch, count, feel. When you think you have it, tap along on the buttons at the bottom. Keep the beats orange to bump up the combo counter and continue your streak. * The preset exercises are just a set of beats and sounds we especially like. They go from dead simple to verging on the complicated. They work just like the practice beats, except that your max combo gets saved for next time. Experiment Practice Learn Play * As the maker of this thing, we feel the need to point out that tapping in lockstep to clockwork is perhaps not the most musical of human activities. Still, we sometimes like to try to prove to ourselves that we could do it indefinitely, if we really wanted to.
What’s New
small tweaks:  remixed exercises 6:7 and 7:6 changed "speed" to "tempo"

    Fantastic
Perfectly made and perfectly simple, absolutely gorgeous visualization and straightforward controls, exactly what I was looking for. Extremely based to make it free and adless, I wish there was a place to make a voluntary donation. Thank you for your wonderful service you tip top human Show more

    The best!
I forgot to mention one more thing. Ok two more. I wish: -the was a quick button to swap between left and right tempo -the tempo could go much faster

    Great tool for feeling polyrhythms
Great design and very intuitive for wrapping your mind around polyrhythms. If sound doesn’t work for you, make sure your phone is not set on silent or connected to Bluetooth. Seems the only critique is that the tempo doesn’t go fast enough for certain polyrhythms. Show more

    Soundless
The app works well visually and is a great idea; but it’s lacking sound and so seemingly defective. Hopefully they fix this.

    This is amazing. Groove out.
Best polyrhythm app I’ve seen so far. Extremely customizable. Something every musician should practice regularly. Especially rhythm section players, obviously. This is pure musical challenge and an incredible tool for growth. Thank you developers. You’re fighting for the greater good, and there’s certainly no way you’re getting the kind of compensation you very much deserve ✌? Show more

    Amazing app!
A recommendation: make the tempo scale to the higher polyrhythms

    Great app for polyrhythmic training!
As a professional drummer, I wish I had something like this growing up, and am grateful to have it now. It’s a really great way to hear, visualize, and actually get the feel of the correct hits in your hands and fingers. Show more
