    Fatal Error
Have been using VinylStudio for years, but whatever changes in the MacOS system (I'm running MacOS MOnterey v. 12.6) won't even let me open this app. I get a box that says: "Fatal Error (sorry)." I'm sorry, too. I might consider upgrading to the Pro version if I felt like I wouldn't be in this same place in a year or two. Show more

    Quit Working
I enjoyed this app, but with recent updates by Apple to the OS, the app quit working. It tries to open, then gives a fatal error. I deleted and reinstalled it, but got the same error message. Please fix... Show more

Finally, my LP conversion has been simplified
For years I've been using a combination of Audacity and ClickRepair on my Mac to digitize my collection of vinyl. The process took hours. First playing the album into Audacity as two large WAV files. Running ClickRepair on the two files. Manually splitting the tracks using Audacity into a folder and assigning ttrack names. Then, burning them to a CD. From the CD, the album was imported into iTunes. VinylStudio does all of that almost automatically. It gives me a simple UI from which I can refine the fade-in and out of tracks. Click repair is built-in. And, best of all, it manages the import into my iTunes library without having to create ancient CDs! Well worth the $25 for the basic version. By the way, my Mac is a late 2015 Intel Core i5 with 16GB DDR3 memory running Monterey. The app was flawless on this old tech. Now, my only request is for an iPadOS version to run on my superfast iPad Pro with the M1 chip. I'd gladly pay another $25 for an iPadOS version. Great app! Thanks. Show more

    Out of this world!
I’m an old DJ with a lot of records. As I sell off my collection I make high quality recordings of each one. I don’t know what I would do without VinylStudio Pro. I recently had to replace the logic board in my old MacBook Pro late 2011 and when I opened Vinyl Studio it had reverted to the free version. I need all the extras the Pro version offers, such as importing more than one sound file at a time, and being able to get album cover tags, etc. So I contacted Paul Sanders and we finally solved the problem The app’s Help menu held the solution with the option “Retore Previous Purchases”. Simple solution, but, well, ignorant me. So I learned two things about Vinyl/Studio that are out “out of this world”, VinylStudio Pro and Paul Strand’s prompt, friendly customer service (rarely found nowadays). Show more

Very unfair review system. You won't post bad reviews
I sent email to the author asking a very key question. They have split the functionality in two. Pushed PRO features to a higher pay model. I asked, are these features (minus the new addional features) something that I loose, that were in the older version, from upgrading. ....CRICKETS.... Since they have had over a week to respond, I must assume what they have done is found a way to create a new version that costs more money for us. Removed features from the lower end model we always had. Then added new features to both. Not honestly a fair scenerio. Legacy users, if my assumptions above is the case, should get a significant discount on an upghrade to the feature rich version, if it is the closest to what we already have. Show more

    No match with Audacity
Very bare and minimal functions! Audacity weas FREE and puts this App to shame. Waiting for Audacity to be upgraded for Catalina.

    Difficult to Use
I have Audacity. It's a much easier program to use. I've been working with VinyalStudio for two weeks and still can't figure out how to copy, save and edit to my satisfaction. I've decided to wait until my Mac Catalina will work with Audcity--even if that's a hundred years! Show more

Simple and well thought out LP digitizer
Once you realize that you need to grant access to the "microphone" in Security & Privacy, the app works as promised. I found it very easy to sample an LP, split the file into tracks, look up the metadata, and put the track files in my library. I've not tried the tick and pop filters or the digital RIAA equalization as I'm using a Parasound USB Phono preamp and digitizer that has excellent RIAA equalization. Your results will be as good as the phono preamp and digitizer used with Vinyl Studio. Parasound, Schiit Audio, and ProJect make high value phono stages that may be used with an external DAC or audio interface. Some are preamp only. Others are preamp-digitizer combo devices. The Parasound has 2 stereo line inputs allowing it to be used to record any signal source from your HiFi preamp. Schiit Audio also makes a separate ADC that may be used with its phono preamp or another of your choice to digitize records. Mike Moffat, Schiit digital audio engineer is one of the best in the business. Don't be put off by the low price. Mike and Schiit are all about good value performance. Vinyl Studio operates any core audio compatible digitizer, saves the sample stream to file, and performs splitting, adds metadata, etc. Show more

    this app is great
After a good bit of time and money spent on other LP ripping software, I was wary of spending another $30 for VinylStudio. But this program is a pleasure to work with. Track splitting is easy, and being able to link discogs info into the metadata is a game changer. Recording straight to flac saves a step, and other features make the effort of digitizing LP’s almost fun. The developers went the extra mile on this five star app. Show more
