Music theory can be empowering, exciting, and one of the biggest tools in your creative arsenal. Whether you already play an instrument or are just learning, Waay teaches you how to bring together notes into melodies, chords, progressions, and even songs. This is applied music theory—stuff you can take straight to your instrument and use. -- "Absolutely phenomenal. This is better than any YouTube video, podcast, or music theory book I have read. This truly helps you find an actionable way to put music theory to practice. Within 48 hours using this app I have actually comprehended what is being taught with this app far beyond any previous comprehension for past products. Honestly they could charge more than double the amount and it would be totally worth it." —Artice, May 3, 2022 "It's obvious a lot of time, love and energy has gone into this app. It's very well thought out, easy to follow and keeps you coming back for more. The developer is super friendly and answers any questions you have. It's clear he has a real passion for what he does and genuinely wants to help out. Awesome work all round" —thatboyswiss, Jan. 8, 2019 "The app is very smooth, and a great resource for learning more about music theory. I found the scale exercises to be very helpful, and I suspect I'll go back to them as a way of keeping those skills sharp." —Sean Garland (iOS MARS) "I have probably spent thousands of dollars perfecting tone on pedals, instruments, amps and apps, posters, printed media, online courses. Great learning tool
I studied music theory in college and I’ve gained more from this app in a few days than a few semesters in class. There are just a few updates I would love to see to make the app more enjoyable to use. Examples are a erase button for the quizzes. It’s very frustrating attempting to correct mistakes. It would also be nice to have access to the segment rules once the timer runs out. When you need a refresher, you have to completely exit the quiz to review the short paragraph from the lesson. Other than that, I highly recommend this app to anyone wanting to learn music theory in an organized fashion. Show more

    Unbelievable
I’ve learned more in 3 days than in the last 20 years, no joke, in regards to music theory. It’s always seemed confusing and mysterious. But put it in a game with some thoughtful dialogue and - what do you know? Suddenly it makes sense since you are actually applying it to something. Now, I’m not saying I memorized everything - but with the formulas provided in understanding the circle of 5th’s (finally!) and 4th’s and the magic chord formulas…honestly it’s like the light was turned on in my brain. I finally understand theory
This App is an organized way to engage with theory instead of just trying to cram-style memorize things. The exercises helped me actually memorize instead of just staring at flash cards or trying to cram it all. Do yourself a favor and just try the month like me, at $7 it’s a steal to finally have the understanding I was always looking for. Show more

    Useful
It’s a well made beginner app to learn how to quickly recognize chords and keys. I paid for one month to check it out and I learned some useful tips and tricks. However, it is not worth the price or the monthly fee. $10 purchase is sufficient for this game and tutorial. There is a wealth of free information online so the app is really not necessary. You’d get more bang for the buck taking a music theory class at a community college. Show more

    Experienced musician, beginner theorist
I’ve been piano for years. Picking up a bit of theory here as there as it was necessary but never really diving in. I recently decided I wanted to elevate my playing, and was recommended to check out Waay as a fun, easy way to learn theory. So far I’ve loved it. Simple, bite sized lessons I can do in my phone in my free time. Great app!! Show more

    I can't afford that

Well made app. Way too pricey.
One of the best made apps I've ever used. Price is way too high for the basic information that's given. But I enjoyed checking out the free lesson.
