Well Tempered is a chromatic instrument tuner, pitch pipe and tuning fork using your iPhone or iPads speaker and microphone, or an external microphone. Well Tempered features 268 unique temperaments that you can customize to start with any of 12 notes, totalling 3205 unique tunings! You can define a precise reference frequency, such as A = 417.32 Hz, making Well Tempered a favourite among instrument makers. With all these tuning options, Well Tempered provides a keyboard so that you can play with the tuning right away to decide if this is the tuning you want for the music you will play on your instrument.     No longer functional
    This was a nice and very useful app, but has died of bit rot and is apparently no longer supported. Developer, please consider open sourcing if you are not able to maintain it? It’s a nice piece of work and deserves better. Show more

    Have been using for years, now has bad feedback problem
    I loved this app for tuning my harpsichord, but it is now broken by some sort of feedback issue with the microphone. I would pay money for this if it were fixed. Show more

    Does not work
    This app does not work. The tuner is completely nonfunctional on iPhone. No updates are available and the developer website is not available. Total waste of money.

    Needs an update !!
    Needs an update! Doesn’t talk to the mic on Iphone xs os12.1 ! Love the temperament selections. A small tweak would fix all this. Emailed the admin with no response! Show more

    Was great...
    This app worked great for me until updating to 12.1. Now, the tuner does not work. Only the pitch pipe works. I tried restarting my phone, and even reinstalling the app. Before this update, I loved how this app made tuning the harpsichord such a breeze. Setting temperaments makes the music come to life! Please update ASAP. Show more

    Perfect!
    As someone who tunes professionally for a living, this app is a godsend for harpsichords and clavichord Tuning. Generally I tune by fork and I can do many historic temperaments that way, but with the pitch pipe on this; it is a whole new level with so many more options. Love this app! And let me just also note: the interface is so easy to use. Perfection all the way around. Show more

    Terrible! What a rip-off!
    This is a joke! It does not give you the difference between sharps and flats in the scales, for the comparison purposes, and the tone quality is cheap and distorted. Actually, the entire design of this application is cheap and overly simplistic. When dealing with different temperaments, you must consider all flats, sharps, double-flats, and double-sharps within each system scale, even for comparison purposes. I don't understand why on earth there is not a single professional music app in the world! Are we becoming culture-less in today's society? Show more

    Doesn't appear to work with iPod Touch software version 4
    This application is fabulous conceptually. I'm a viola da gamba player and having access to temperament tunings and A-415 is great. The corresponding stand alone tuner with temperaments costs about $200. It also comes highly recommended by some noteworthy professional gamba players. Like one of them says "tune by EAR not by EYE." However, two caveats. The volume is a little soft for real use. Having some amplification is necessary to make it loud enough to tune. This is fixable with a separate amplifier/speakers. Worse though is that this software which worked just fine under OS Version 3 doesn't produce sound on my iTouch under Version 4. It would be nice if it were upgraded because it's basically non-functional in its current state. Too bad - it was a nice app. Show more

    Clavichord Tuning Heaven
    This app is a joy for anyone who owns a clavichord and wants to enrich their tuning with an app that simplies the whole process. You can't loose buying this app. The creater is a genius! Show more
