    nope
should have thought more before purchasing; doesn’t work at all

    Simple and functional
What else can I really say about this app? I’ve been using it for a few years perhaps and it’s been perfect to my needs: super lightweight, sits in my menu bar and scrobbles everything from iTunes I play. I can click the icon to see what I’ve been recently scrobbling, but I can’t remember it ever missing a track. Well worth the $3 if all you do with last.fm is use it as a record of your listening. Honestly wish such an elegant solution existed on iOS as well. Show more

    Corrupted data and uncaring developer
This app, when it wasn’t corrupting my data, performed fine. Unfortunately, Apple’s authentication service occasionally fails or logs you out, and guess what this app does when it can’t validate its DRM? Silently scrobbles everything as a single Nickelback song. It doesn’t tell you this. You discover it, on your own, after several hundred scrobbles. You then have to delete them, one by one, from Last.fm. You’ll never get those scrobbles back. I researched a bit and found that when a few users complained to the developer, they basically shrugged or pointed the finger at Apple. This is unacceptable in my view. We are not pirates, we gave you our money through the app store, so you better make sure your DRM works 100% of the time. The acceptable approach? Just show a popup if you can’t validate. That’s the RESPECTABLE thing to do. If you’re like me and desire to track your scrobbles precisely, please learn from my mistake — stay far, far away from this application. Show more

    doesn’t connect, won’t work, don’t but it!
It simply doesn’t work. The app won’t connect to my last.fm account so it can’t do anything. Don’t waste your money.

    Nickelback
This is a good minimalistic scrobbler. However, I wish there were a way to disable Spotify scrobbling. I like the software for scrobbling iTunes but find that the built-in Spotify scrobbling does a better job of scrobbling songs played there. The reason for 2 stars is that due to an annoying bug, the software scrobbled "How You Remind Me" by Nickelback continuously over the course of a day. Like the other reviewer, I purchased the app and had to suffer because of a bug in their anti-piracy measures. Not cool. Show more

Works well, but one "feature" really miffed me
I've been using this app for a number of months and it works well for me. Clean and simple, all I need. Only complaint that I have is with an anti-piracy measure the developer has taken. If the copy is not genuine, the app will scrobble every track played as a single Nickleback song. I appreciate a good joke as much as the next guy, but I happen to stumble upon this when one of my computers' App Store session expired. I lost a few HUNDRED tracks scrobbled to this because it thought the copy was not genuine due to the time out. How about instead of being "cute" or "passive-aggressive", you actually warn your genuine users that there was a problem authenticating the software. All it took was a simple reauth and relaunch... Minus two stars for the transparency, unfortunately. Show more

    Completely broken with new Last.fm
DO NOT BUY.: Last.fm changed their website and now you can’t make a new sign-in with this app. This app should be pulled from the store.

    Can’t log in!
This is a great app! …but Last.fm recently updated its website, and appears to have broken the API that SimpleScrobbler uses to log us in! :/

    doesn’t scrobble
It doesn’t scrobble. It detects the song but doesn’t actually scrobbles it. DONT BUY IT.

So much better than the Last.fm app
The Last.fm app definitely had its day, but I was so happy to find SimpleScrobbler for my new computer. It just scrobbles and doesn’t get in the way (except when it annoys you to ask for a review). I couldn’t really ask for much more than that. Show more

This must be some sick joke. Nickelback scrobbles??
It sits on your menu bar for convenience but despite being a paid app it has absolutely zero features. After using it for a week I noticed it was scrobbling Nickelback’s "How You Remind Me” for every song I played. The only explanation for this bizzare behaviour is that the app has been hacked because it has not been updated sine 2013... even after changing my password, simple scrobbler kept scrobbling that same Nickelback song over and over. The problem stopped once I deleted it from my computer and went back to Last.fm’s scrobbler. I also changed my password again just to be sure. I wish I could have my money back and Nickleback was held accontable for this shenanigans. Show more

    Does Not Work
Strange reading all these users who have good experiences with SimpleScrob… Are you using some different OS Yosemite, on some pseudo-Apple hardware? I installed this app and tried using it alongside the Last.fm desktop scrobbler. Lo and behold, the free app works fine (although it crashed a lot before updating), and the paid app is a piece of crap. Do not waste your money. The App store will hopefully remove this scam. Queued forever?
This application does work, for the most part, but it randomly queues tracks and that queue is never cleared as far as I know. My computer is constantly connected to the network via WiFi so I’m not sure how/why these tracks get queued or when they’re submitted (if ever) to Last.fm. I also hate that it has no option to allow for starting when the computer boots. This would be huge as it’s very rare when I reboot, but oftentimes when I do, I forgot for hours or even days sometimes that SimpleScrobbler isn’t running and I’ve missed out on who knows how many tracks because of this. Otherwise, it’s a solid app, but nothing more than “adequate.” Fix the queuing (or at least let me manually attempt to submit them) and offer an option to launch when the desktop becomes available and this will be a “great” application. Too Spartan
This app definitely does work, and it does take its simplicity very seriously. I feel that it takes it TOO seriously, though. There is literally no options menu, so, say, the ability to have the app run on start-up is absent, as are a lot of other features that one would expect from a scrobbler. All in all, SimpleScrobbler scrobbles, and does it wel, but has almost and does almost nothing else. That was obviously the goal of the developer, but I disagree with their design philosophy. May require a reboot after first install
At first it wasn't working, but a reboot seems to have fixed it for whatever reason.

    Simply doesn’t work.
I paid for and downloaded SimpleScrobbler last week and it has yet to work. My info is in the dropdown, etc, but nothing is showing on my Last.fm profile.

    Happy customer!
I’ve been using this little app for a while now. Works well as advertised, less connectivity issues than the native app too (in my experience). Cheers, Tim
