Good way to learn music notation

I used the free version for a while and wanted to expand my options. With every cent. Does what it is supposed to and does it well.

I like that this app is midi compatible. It put 4 stars because it would great if the letter names where lower so I when I play a note I could see which note it is easier. It is a great app for sure! Show more

I have used note trainer for years to build my sight reading skills. 5 minutes a day will have you sight reading the grand scale within weeks. Your speed will increase exponentially if you keep practicing with it. Show more

Things I don’t like that need to be improved: - grand staff doesn’t include all 88 keys on the piano. The app doesn’t train you to recognize a bunch of notes - just skips notes you get wrong, no option to keep trying until you get it right Things I like: - you get full measures of notes, unlike some apps that only show single notes at a time - Bluetooth midi works flawlessly Show more

This is the best app of its type that I’ve found, others are either annoying to use or the MIDI doesn’t work. But it only doesn’t care which octave as long as it’s the right note, so sometimes it won’t catch mistakes. Also the developer never responds and sometimes email sent to them bounces back. Show more

I’ve been searching for a good sight reading app for my students. I really like the customization and the ability to complement different levels of play. I have families with multiple students of differing proficiencies and this app allows me to recommend something that will help all their children at their differing abilities. Also, I love that it can be used without MIDI. Show more

This app will not help you learn anything. It gives you exercises to practice what you learn on your own.

This app has been indispensable to my learning to read music. I highly recommend it. I bought the three app bundle and the other two apps, ear training and metronome are equally good. Thoor software writes is great software. Show more

I can’t get the accidentals to turn off in the treble clef. I want to practice the right hand in specified keys, but it won’t stop putting in accidentals. Also won’t turn off two note checked in the custom notes. Show more

Excellent app for on the go sight reading practice. Was able to interface both Arturia keystep and Roland DS midi with no problems.

Does just what it says. The only way I would make it better would be if it kept track of / graphed your scores. Full disclosure — I use it with a Korg plugKey mobile midi attached to my full-size keyboard and recommend using one to take full advantage of the program. 11/10 w/ rice! Show more

This is one of the best site reading apps very thorough but strangely enough it skips one of the most basic piano positions middle C very frustrating when working with books such as the show method which focus on middle C through most of the primary level. Otherwise I would give it a five star. Show more

Straightforward and easy to use

Why does the wrong note have to be so annoying? Can you change that?

I bought this app today and it simply will not open. It closes automatically after the start-up screen. Guess I wasted $3.99. ?

The only thing That I think needs improvement is a percentage system Of evaluation Instead of not getting full credit because you don’t get everything right...That’s not a good teaching strategy or philosophy unless we are in war ?? Show more

I am trying it out to help my students!

I tried other apps before I found this one. This app helped me learn the notes, and continues to teach as I evolve. The developers updates are relevant. I like the MIDI and Bluetooth options. Now, there is cord training. Kudos to the developers :-) Show more
