    Export Crashes the Program
I use DM1 mainly on my Iphone and it works perfect. Best drum machine software ever. That's another story on my Imac - The feature are great but what's the point if the program crashes EVERY SINGLE TIME I try to export a file? Also, very buggy when in fullscreen mode. But the lack of export stability makes it just another expensive gadget. Please guys, please fix this... Show more

    fantastic drum machine
have the DM1 on my mac, iphone and ipad. just a great tool for making beats and arranging beats and tweaking sounds. Couldn't get midi to work, but with Ableton Link support, was able to get around it. Show more

    Audio Unit Much?
Why doesn't this work in logic yet? If you really want, just make a new version and sell it in the App Store that works with Lodgic please.

    Feeble Imitation of Caustic
It's disgraceful that this app is rated as highly as it is by Apple. I couldn't believe the other reviews were accurate, but they are: The system doesn't work well in full-screen mode, it takes forever to render, etc. This seemed initially like an M1 compatibility problem, but the problems are too widespread-- even scrolling between different drum kits doesn't really work properly, very hit or miss. I selected this app because the UI appeared similar to Caustic for Android, which I'm already familiar with, and I don't want to bother transferring rendered files from my Android phone or one of my tablets to my Mac. But this app lacks many features that Caustic has, including some really basic ones like, er, metering for the mixer? The one file I successfully rendered was terribly overloaded, and I had no way of telling (other than guesstimating based on the audio) that it was clipping so badly until I imported it into Reaper and actually looked at the meters in THAT program, and saw the waveforms in the tracks. Also, if there's a way of copying a series of patterns-- a verse, chorus or break-- and inserting it somewhere, I haven't figured out what it is. Many of the sounds are all mysteriously weak-- like each drum kit has something unusable in it-- a snare with a weird decay, or a robotic rimshot. A program like this should have at least a few usable kits right out of the box, but there's something vaguely unpleasant about one or more samples in each kit, whether contemporary, vintage, acoustic, or drum-machine based. I figured maybe I would just keep this for sketching, but the latest problem: Rendering audio files not only takes forever, as another user complained here, but the program crashes during rendering! I am disgusted that Apple seems to have joined the ranks of shady sites like Indiegogo, and has now adopted the corporate philosophy that it's fine to sell products that do not actually work at all. I'm going to see if I can get my $9.00 back. This program isn't worth half that. Show more

I really want to like this!
Full screen doesn't seem to work correctly on my 1920x1080 monitors. midi learning 'forgets' when I use my launchkey to trigger pads. haven't tried using the akai with it yet. Love the fact this this was built, but it doesn't do anything useful for me at the moment, unfortunately. Show more

    a gltichy nightmare
I'm assuming if I use curse words, my review will be taken down but rest assured, I would use all of them in my description of this app. Trying to export your beat once you have it results in a myriad of fails including but not limited too: immediately crashing the program, exporting only part of the song (not even ther first or last part, often just a chunk in the middle somehow), and most mindblowing of all - TEMPO CHANGING IN THE TRACK. That's right, a drum machine that when exporting to wav file will somehow speed up or slow down the track, and not even the entire track - I'm saying as the track goes on it speeds up. HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE IN A DRUM MACHINE? Using the app itself is intuitive and comes with a great bank of classic drum machines (including some oddball ones you don't see often) but what good is that if I cannot export the beat to a DAW? I would give this minus five stars if I could just for the time I've spent fixing the issues its faulty export function creates. DO NOT BUY THIS APP. Show more

    Feels slow
I love these kind of applications. However, this one feels sluggish. Specially when you have to scroll through the instrument collections. BTW, that window does not have a close button, so you have to kind of guess how to close it to go back to the main window. Show more

Beautiful instrument and fantastic drum machine
DM-1 is easy to get into and deep enough to keep you playing for a long time. Includes a beautifully designed interface, lots of sounds, and plenty of options. Thanks for helping and inspring musicians. Show more

    Editors Choice???
There is no way should this app be an Editors Choice. Editors Choice should be for apps that have payed attention to the details. This app is clunky, unresponsive, and clearly not optimized for the Mac. Fullscreen view: Its cropped at the top on my screen. No attention to detail. Toms: Drum machines should have three toms, high, medium, and low. This drum machine only has one. Also there should be both Crash and Ride cymbals. DM1 just has a single generic "Cymbal". External drum machine triggering: I use this app for testing an external drum machine. Every time I start DM1 I have to go to the Song panel, to click the MIDI button, then clock the Refresh button. Then I have to make sure that it's set to send notes and/or tempo to the correct MIDI output(s). Every single time. It's not hard for an app to remember MIID settings, each port has a unique ID to it and you just need to save that ID and look for again when you restart. If the ID isn't there, then just turn off external MIDI output. MIDI: Someone there should run midi monitor on this app because after every note on and note off, it sends illegal midi, several bytes of all 0's. I'm purposefully being hard on this app in this review because I want to like it. I want it to be better at what it does. Show more

    Simple and to the point!
Does exactly what a drum machine should do, easy to use interface and very usable sounds/pads. For a mere 8.99, can’t be beat!

    Love the sounds but...
It crashes every time i try to export audio which renders it useless to me. ive emailed finger lab for info three times to no avail.

    misses the mark slightly
I like the program but it falls short in a few areas. Ideally it would be nice if it would integrate with other DAWs like garageband. The interface is a little clunky to use on OS, I think they just ported the ipad app. The resolution on the app is also poor making it kinda hard to read the text, and most of the interface way too small when using it in full screen mode. That said, good selection of sounds and easy enough for someone with moderate skill to get a decent track out of it. Show more

    It's Okay
First, the Cons: 1. Glitchy. VERY VERY glitchy. If you catch a button at the right second, it will repeat a tone endlessly. 2. Slow. This is definitely not optimized and it has a very noticable lag. Some buttons get locked to the cursor so you can accidentally crank the volume up when you move your mouse. 3. Full Screen is wildly imperfect. It cuts off the top the screen. It leaves the buttons at the top half visible so they are usable unless you try to switch desktops, then you lose everything at the top and have to exit and reenter Full Screen. Otherwise, you have to use all of the function screens separately and no, you cannot separate and see them all at once or layer them like windows. 4. Seemingly no app connectivity to Garageband or any other program that I can see. I just downloaded this so I'm not an expert yet and MAYBE it has something (I've seen some posts about using it as a midi controller) but I haven't found it and I looked... Now the Pros: 1. TONS OF INSTRUMENTS! The drum kits are extensive and sound fantastic. 2. The interface is very user friendly (when it's working properly), intuitive & easy to learn. Show more

Great app. I love it and you will too.

    Love This App
This app is great for any of my beat needs. While it does have some minor limitations (hi hat is not going to move as fast as normal trap hi-hat) but besides that, useful. Show more

    Hidden Gem Magic
If you’re a hardcore beatmaker DM1 is a hidden gem for (mostly) obvious reasons: tons of kits - many of them iconic - and a sweetspot of control that’s simple yet so effective. If you’re new to making beats I can’t think of a better place to start than with DM1: easy to get going and plenty of room to explore and expand. Given the FX automation basic beats can reach new heights and export of each drum voice works amazingly when taking DM1 material into other DAWS etc. Really smart and truly great sounding: DM1 is essential. Very Cool and Fun, with two limiting features
Very impressive choice of drum sounds, and I love the way it displays it out on the screen. IT shows each main beat with its subdivision that you just write onto…awesome! I just need to beg you, Please make it so that we can switch between drum sets in the middle of a song!! That would make it so much more awesome. And please add two functions: Allow us delete songs, we are made to clear out the screen and can never completely delete a project ? 2) Let us scroll through the timeline. THANKS You’re the Best! My kids love to play with it. Show more

    Terrible
This is an app designed to look good in screenshots, and that’s it. It’s nearly unusable. Because there are no resources online to see it in action, I optimistically purchased it and wish I could get my money back. It is super buggy, lacks decent samples, and is missing a lot of really basic/critical features that a decent drum machine would have. After about 10 minutes I’ve realized it was a waste of money. NEED TO UPDATE/FIX THIS THING
Needs tech support and updates. Would not recommend buying DM1 or anything by Fingerlab, if they dont plan on upkeep.

    Not ready for prime time
Full Song Multitrack Export takes a very long time (30minutes for a 5 minute song on a 2015 i7 iMac), and often writes files that aren’t playable. In general, audio export often fails to write useable files. For casual use, this is a good app. The lack of useable export makes it useless for anything more Show more
