    Broken strings
The app kept telling me to turn my high e up and up and up until my string broke I wouldn’t recommend this app unless your looking to get broken strings Show more

    Amazing when it actually works.
I have loved this app and almost thought it was too good to be true. Paid $70 for the year and now I can’t get through a single practice because the exercises refuse to pick up what I’m playing. I can play a perfectly tuned A chord and I’m setback or stuck for “not playing it right.” When it all works it’s amazing how it can really help push you. Right now I just want my money back because I’m “playing wrong” apparently. Using an 12 pro Max. No mic issues. Show more

It’s not just a mic issue
This app looks great and I was excited to own it, however, it flat out doesn’t work. I have tried the natural mic of my 2020 iPad Pro and the iRig plugin and the app simply can’t understand the notes. I don’t know where to go at this point except to delete and keep using Yousician. Show more

    Great idea but flawed execution
I really like the idea of getting feedback on chords and rhythms while playing. However, The app does not always recognize when something is being played correctly. It gets stuck on repeatedly showing the same cord, and indicating a mistake. It is quite frustrating! I plan to try it a couple of more days to see if the app learns. Otherwise, it will be unusable. So impressed
I’ve taken the 7 day trial and find Uberchord to be extraordinary! It has brought me from true beginner to something more. It’s gamification interface motivates me to practice longer and harder to get the chords right and on tempo. I can’t live without this app,? Show more

    Does not work right
First thing opening app, it wants to make you tune guitar, so i did what it said and the end product was my guitar being extremely out of tune. The whole using the mic on my ipad thing is a complete fail. Waste of my time. Show more

    Gentle Introduction and Great Content
I’m a complete guitar beginner, and this app has helped me go from the basics of playing chords to being able to comfortably strum the chords to several songs with varying rhythm patterns. The pacing of the lessons is very good, and the instant feedback is invaluable. Show more

    I’m inspired and entertained
I played with Uberchord for a couple of days, just an old iPad and an acoustic guitar, and it worked great. It was fun, it successfully recognized the notes and chords with just the iPad mic, it inspired me to keep playing. Then, approaching the end of my trial period, I decided to be sure I was choosing The Best Guitar App to commit to (wanting to do the most cost effective long term subscription). And whoa, it’s hard to figure out the various pros/cons of the myriad competing apps with any certainty. I tried a couple, was on the fence... ...but in the end I realized there was only one that genuinely entertained me, looked gorgeous (hats of to the design mind(s) on this one!), brought me back for more sessions, and actually improved my playing. Uberchord is the one for me, for the moment at least. I’ve since tried it with an iRig 2 and an electric guitar. That works well too and is a good option when I’m playing later at night and want to be a bit quieter. But there’s something about the simplicity of iPadded Uberchord + guitar = fun that reduces the friction and makes it easiest for me to grab ten minutes a day and keep progressing. Thanks, Uberchord! This has ended a ten year pause in my guitar progress. (My background: I started playing guitar 17 years ago and have taken lessons off and on in the time since. I’ve never really gotten very comfortable with it but I’d say that remains my goal: comfort/fluency, ability to pick up a guitar or uke and make noises that match my mood or thought. No need to be a rock star or even play for anyone but myself.) Show more

    Frustratingly bad
You can’t back out of anything if you’re accidentally tap it. (There’s no back button or X button). You can’t look at anything without physically playing it on your guitar. (It will yell at you that it can’t hear you.) Update: Reply to the offensive Developer Reply: There is no pause button. Perhaps that’s a bug. But in general, the UI and UX are still pretty bad. I used it with my guitar yesterday, or attempted to. The note recognition is quite cool, but the UX is the worst of any app I’ve used. I’m a certified music teacher, have used thousands of apps, (over 370 on my phone right now) and I’d never recommend this to a student if I can’t even make it work myself. Show more

Helps me learn to play without looking
Just on the free version for now. Want to train myself not to look at fretboard. This helps because I don’t have to turn my head to verify I’m playing a note or chord correctly. Obviously I’m a beginner. With experience I hope to be able to do this by ear but in the meantime this helps. Show more

My best investment in learning guitar
I’m a late entrant to learning an instrument in life. I started my quest after gaining confidence at learning there was such a wealth of resource for learning remotely. I tried numerous apps, YouTube tutorials, and even zoom lessons. They all had their charms and helped me, but nothing equaled the value I got from this app. One can easily become overwhelmed at where to begin. Begin here! And then just keep beginning here— Uberchord has a new warmup to get you going and daily challenge just for the actual skill level it measured from your practice. This is the future of skills based instruction getting underway as we will all come to enjoy it, using AI as to personalize a range of instructional content to your specific needs as they change from day to day. If you learn something and then forget, whether in the same practice session or a week later it will remind you. Gently at first and then more abruptly. I have spent hundreds on instruction in some form this year, but pound for pound there is no question for his was my highest return on investment. Uberchord — you rock! Show more

    Deleted Uberchord after 3 minutes
After the first time signing up, the first lesson is tuning. There is a tuner that uses a graphic of the strings and arrows show which direction, up or down, tighten or loosen the string and a moving tick line that indicates sharp or flat. The mic picks up the sound. The problem is the tuner does not wait until the string is tune accurately and skips to the next higher string. Something as basic as that should work flawlessly not just because they they put it right up front in your face the first time you use their app, but because it is a foreshadowing of problems to come. Now I will retune my guitar with my Korg, or Polytone. But I was interested in the app. Uberchord, needs to work the problem. Show more

    A minor not working
It’s a good app but when I play the a minor chord correctly it still counts it as wrong for some reason

Sign up doesn’t support password manager
Your sign up page does not support password managers (e.g. 1Password, LastPass). I am disappointed because this is a dealbreaker for me.

I tried 10 apps and this is fantastic
I’m so much more focused with practice and having 100 percent more fun.

    UPDATE: Feedback Is Key
I have been using the app for a month now and if you are like me and want to know how you are doing with something you are learning, this is the app for you. I took some group lessons which was a big help, but this program has really upped my desire to practice which is the key to getting better at pretty much anything. Whatever gets your axe in your hands will help you get to where you want to be. I look forward to playing with this app and that is saying something if you knew me. Thanks to the developers. UPDATE: I am now using a Rockband microphone with the apple camera adaptor and i think it helps with chord recognition issue. Show more

    Awesome way to learn guitar!
Wow! This app is incredible. I have been playing for about a week & I can already strum chords that sound recognizable. This is a game changer for me. Totally addictive & makes learning fun! My only regret is that I didn’t buy this app sooner! Thanks! Show more

    Look elsewhere
This app does not work with iPad Pro. Can’t tell the difference between E notes especially and take 20 to 30 seconds to register a chord strum. Checked levels on the an all was good so something is wrong with the note recognition. Couldn’t get past the Em first chord exercise could barely tune my guitar. Guitar tuna on my iPhone next to my ipad was able to pick up everything. Show more

Problems in initial setup so I gave up.
Initial setup includes tuning your guitar. I get to the G string. One pluck and it says I’m flat. A second and it says I’m sharp with no change in string tension in between. I tried increasing and decreasing volume on my amp to no avail. I finally gave up. Terrible waste of time. By the way, I’ve played musical instruments for 30 years now so I understand the concept of tuning an instrument. Show more

    Definitely recommend
I have been trying to teach myself to play the guitar for about 6 months. I tried several different apps but this is the only one that actually taught me not only the chords but strumming and rhythm. Show more
