Purchased the Tidal add on for Amarra Play and it does not work. Amarra crashes on my MacBook any time I try to use AP Tidal with my iphone and ipad. Opened a ticket with developer and they provided no working solution. Do not recommend purchasing Tidal add on. Show more

I have a Hidizs S9 Pro USB DAC dongle for pushing hi-res (Tidal) music from my phone/computer into a very high quality tube headphone amp. Until I found Amarra, nothing played Tidal music anything close to bit-perfect from an Apple device. And No, Tidal player itself plays MQA pretty poorly on the iPhone in comparison. On Android it is no problem using Hiby player which plays Tidal bit-perfect. But I really didn’t want to switch from my iPhone 12 to an android type phone. Amarra sounds great on Apple devices, maybe not quite as good as bit-perfect MQA players on Android. But pretty darned close. Not only is it way better playing to wired devices but equally good to Bluetooth IEMs. I have a set of Bluetooth 5.2 IEMS that sound as good as some of the $100-$200 wired IEMs I own. I’m simply blown away at the sound quality of Amarra Play on idevices. Every time I use it, it puts a smile on my face. The only thing missing is being able to access favorite Tidal playlists in My Music and ability to play Artist Stations. Maybe a future update will include it. I’m hopeful Show more

Yes there are some bugs and quirks, but for someone wanting an EQ and the best sounding Masters from Tidal, it is a must! The other nice thing about Amarra Play, is the remote capability to control the Mac counterpart. Likewise, the Mac counterpart I use, Amarra Lux, you won't find better sound! It too has some bugs and flaws. The bottom line, if you are like me, and want quality sound, you will welcome these apps and overlook the bugs until they are addressed. Show more

I rate this a one star due to lack of Amazon music option of the EQ like with Tidal. My best friend and I were using Tidal and I was about purchasing the EQ for that but he had to canceled subscription for something cheaper and found Amazon music HD to be better so I was searching the App Store for one like this for Amazon given the fact that Amazon removed the built in EQ from iOS app. I would rate it five stars if the developers were to take on the challenge of being the first to develop one made for Amazon music. The music from the app sounds great but some issues need to be addressed first is the music you sync from iTunes needs to be able to load faster because for some reason it doesn’t load at all for me at times. Second is if you use the file sharing for this app it removes your cover art for some reason even if it is embedded in the music file. Show more

This is the only app I have ever went out of my way to review. I got this app to support my Tidal IOS. The EQ doesn’t work 99 percent of the time and when it does it’s all distorted. Absolutely the biggest rip off. Avoid this if you value good sounding audio. Terrible. Show more

I’m using iPad mini and it doesn’t load. There is no app screen although it does show in running apps.

I've never been able to use this app because it crashes every single time!

Amarra Luxe does not support DSD or DoP rather they convert DSD to PCM. I’ve asked when DSD support will be available and they say they don’t feel there is a market for it. Pity Show more

Crashes every time within seconds

Audio quality is as expected from Sonic Studio. But the user interface is lacking one critical feature, NO SEARCH! This is an issue when you have thousands of tracks off 1500 album collected over several decades. I reinstalled Apple Music and will only use Amarra Play to remote Amarra Luxe. Close but no cigar. After paying for every “so-called” high resolution apps in the App Store for the sake of comparison and finding out that there are marginal differences between them, as far as sound quality goes, well, in my opinion, and ended up less than satisfied with their sound quality, Then I remembered that I had downloaded the Amarra app months ago an never given much thought to it again, because there were not much to be excited about, as far as features go. The iTunes playlist is organize, but if you decide to import your own high resolution music to the Amarra Player, then its a night mare to sort between the Apple Music and the high res files, to add insult to injury, the app at time group two or more albums together, making it difficult to find your music, plus there is no easy way to easily label and organize your music in a logical manner. Not sure if the developer for this app has given up on it. The reasons for my frustrations are, I decided to finally play some music through your app and have been blown away by the noticeable improvement in sound over the Onkyo Hifi and all the others that I have tested from the app. The sound has been much more detail, less harsh, wider & deeper sound stage. I am so impressed that I have decided to stick with you app for the foreseeable future, so it would be nice if you guys would add the capabilities for users to sort and organize their own hi res music in a better manner. Your company pride yourselves on Hi Fidelity sound, so why leave us with iTunes, that no real audiophiles have any interest in. I would say if you are going to do something, why not just do it properly, like for example, build out the app with features that will appeal to us audiophiles. For a thirteen dollar app that drives a 100 dollar bit of software on a Mac I’m finding it to be a hair buggy and unclear as to its operations. It’s hard to tell if this is due to Tidal being not quite ready for prime time or just that the software needs a bit of development in the UI. I’ll give it a try with headphones from the phone next. The potential seems great, so I’ll try to be patient and see if a more powerful experience is in its way. (My signal chain is iPhone to Mac Mini to Tidal to Schiit DAC to Parasound to Emotiva T1s. So I’ve had this app for over a month and have yet to be able to use it successfully. I was at least able to play a snippet of a song before crashing, but since the update a couple weeks ago it now crashes while loading my library. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. Do not pay for this app until you see that these issues were fixed. Show more

I was using VOX as my go-to iTunes killer on the IPhone.. until I downloaded this. I’m a daily Amarra 4 and sQ+ user on my Mac. This sound quality is phenomenal. The quality over the Music app is dramatic. There is so much more detail, depth, and naturalness to the music. It just sounds “analog”. Plug your iPhone into some great headphones, play some lossless tracks. Be happy. Show more

The app doesn’t return any albums, and playlists, no songs — all I can use it for is play/pause and skipping tracks. I tried telling this the the Amarra sales guy, and he said try the “latest version” Like I said, almost useless — which is sad because the EQ in Amarra Mac rocks! Show more
