The free functionality has mostly gone since Pro
This had been my favorite Last.fm scrobbler when I found it several months ago. Pushing the Pro subscription has hobbled the most used features in the free usage. No longer can love track and the tracks no longer display in the drop down menu. I can create a shortcut to 'Like" in Apple Music and select to 'Love' on Last.fm simultaneously. But, I can't use it only to 'Love" scrobbles. as such, my currently loved tracks on Apple Music are toggled off if I try to 'Love' scrobbles. Looking for another alternative. Show more

    Similar Artists gone?
I've been using the free app for some time now and recently upgraded. I really, really loved the "Artists Like" feature of the track I was playing, and used the app primarily for that. Will this feature be restored? Show more

    neptunes 2 is a downgrade
Can't belive seeing the current playing track is a "PRO" feature. Updates should give features to your users, not put extremly basic ones behind a paywall.

    Misses Scrobbles
When I click on the neptunes program I can see the songs in the recently scrobbled tab but when I check my account they are not shown and I end up having to scrobble them manually. I would say it misses roughly 1 out of 10, and it does happen more frequently on streaming directly from apple music vs streaming songs "in" my library. I am on Big Sur as well if that is of any help Show more

    It works!
It was easy to set up. It scrobbles just fine, it's lightweight, and have not had any issues. Can't really ask for anything more!

    It works well
I am thrilled I stumbled upon this app. It really works well with Apple Music.

A barebones scrobbler that actually works!!
Beyond impressed honestly. The official last.fm scrobbler for mac is absolute garbage compared to this app.

    Great replacement for Bowtie Stars
I recently updated to macOS Catalina and found that my long-time iTunes integrations Bowtie (for desktop notifications of playing tracks and Last.fm scrobbling) and Stars (to assign ratings to tracks from the menu bar) no longer worked. This is a fantastic replacement that handles Last.fm scrobbling from the new Music application, puts album art on the desktop, gives menu bar integration, and keyboard shortcut control for various music-related tasks. Wonderful, and I can't believe it's free! Show more

    Works!
Ths App actually works and is inocucos too. I am happy to find a scobbler that works and is not bloated like the actual LastFM scrobbler. Thank you for this app. The only misbehavior I found it to do that didn’t seem right is create multiple desktop images by toggling the Show on desktop or not. I am still in High Sierra, so happy to find that it works al all. I still find that I use the official Last FM App if I want to scrobble plays from my device when synchronizing with iTunes (Mac OS). LastFM app will see and cscrobble the play updates when they hit iTnes, but NepTnes only scrobbles actual iTunes Plays while playing them. Just so you know... Show more

    Welcome Back!
I'm SO glad to have Neptunes back for Catalina. In the brief few days I was without this app I remembered how essential it was. It's an excellent scrobbler, but more than that, it's just a lovely desktop companion. The album art and desktop controls look great, especially for those of us with limited screen space who hide Music.app off in its own full screen zone. Plus, keyboard shortcuts for simultaneously Liking on Last.fm and Loving on Apple Music are super well done. I couldn't recommend this app enough. Show more

    Doesn't support Catalina
Sadly with the demise of iTunes it stopped working. Hoping for an update.

    Just the basics
Finding a regularly updated Scrobble client for the Mac is great ... but unlike other Scrobblers I've used, this one does not: - allow you to pause scrobbling until after an iPhone/iPod sync. - scrobble any music played on my iPhone/iPod even if I carefully avoid playing music on my Mac until after I've synced my iPhone. - allow you to use the Album Artist instead of the Artist when scrobbling. That final problem is pretty annoying. "Kathy Diamond & Kaine," "Kathy Diamond & Mastercris" and "Disco Doubles & Kathy Diamond" are all filed under the album artist "Kathy Diamond," but they get scrobbled as separate artists. So, to use a more pop-music example, would "Janet Jackson ft. Missy Elliott", "Janet Jackson & Michael Jackson," and "Janet Jackson." But it's the other two problems that really make this app useless for me. What percentage of people sit at a computer all day listening to music instead of listening to it on their mobile devices. Look, I get it that LastFM's stupid rules to prevent scrobble-scamming, coupled with Apple's closed ecosystem and lack of developer hooks into the iOS music app, make it very difficult to accurately scrobble people's mobile-device listens. But if I'm paying $4 for a Scrobble client when I've used so many free ones in the past, those features are essential. Show more

    Great scrobbler!
This app works as advertised. I really like that the developer frequently updates it, most Last.fm apps don’t get that treatment. Little things like the option to scrobble only music (excluding Podcasts and iTunes U etc), scrobble after % of track has played, custom hotkeys, recent tracks, and a quick way to view your Last.fm profile make this simple app shine. I don’t personally use the “Album Cover” feature but it’s also well done if you are interested. Show more

Goes above and beyond what I’ve been looking for.
I’ve been using a mix of Emcee, Muzzy, and BarTunes to control my music and scrobble it to my last.fm. But Emcee was broken which was why started using BarTunes (which, to be fair is a pretty decent app to control and view your iTunes). It ultimately only worked half the time. Muzzy was suitable for last.fm scrobbles, but I don’t think it was scrobbling my Apple Music tracks and didn’t work half the time. Not to mention it hadn’t been updated in years. So anyway, I was despearate to find a better last.fm scrobbling option and was reluctant to pay for yet another one. But this dev seriously seems to care about continuting develeopment and keeping this applet stable. It scrobbles all my iCloud Match and Apple Music tracks flawlessly in iTunes, it has macOS Sierra support which I can’t wait to update to later today, it has a really awesome album art funtion to notify you when a new track is on and allow you to admire the album art, custom keyboard shortcuts, and you can set it to love your current track on both last.fm and iTunes/Apple Music. So far, it seems really stable and haven’t had any issues yet. Can’t wait for an iOS version as last.fm scrobbling is seriously lacking on that platform. Anyway, get NepTunes if you want a quality scrobbler that can handle Apple Music! Show more

Good but Lacking Programmable Play/Pause Hotkey
I like the app and, like many others, am using it to replace the defunct CoverSutra. My only complaint is it lacks a programmable play/pause hotkey shortcut. It has mute, volume up, volume down, rating up, rating down, and some hotkeys for Last.fm but no play/pause. Too bad. ***UPDATE*** Version 1.5 just came out and the developer added play/pause as well as next/previous track programmable hot keys. Much appreciated. I am changing my rating from 4 to 5 stars. Netptunes now is a complete replacement app for CoverSutra. If the app was capable of displaying song lyrics I would give it 6 stars! ;) Show more

    Keeps getting better!
NepTunes is hands-down the best way to get iTunes to scrobble reliably, and the tight integration with iTunes and Spotify are top-notch. You can configure it to work silently as a Last.fm scrobbler or as a fully-featured controller that displays album artwork and controls your music from one place and anything in between. Plenty of options to make it work exactly as you need it to. This app is completely worth the cost of admission. Show more
