Even in a silent room the needle does not go below 40. What a waste of my time!

I had this thing in an area with hundreds of noisy crickets yet the meter was dead at 0 db's what a waste of space !

I run sound at my church of 400, and needed a decibel meter. My sound is set at 79-81 decibels; but according to this ap it's at 90. I even lower my volume to 10% but it was still at 90 decibels. Restarting the ap doesn't help either. Don't bother with this dud ap. Show more

Maxes out at 97db

You will never see a decibel reading of zero. It does not exist. Go spend $100 on a real decimeter. You will find it works about the same as this app. Before you post, do some research. Show more

Even in silent it sits at 40 decibels. That's as loud as a cough. Needs some work

For those who said that this app is not accurate, pls re-read your definition of dB. A "quiet" room is 30-40dB. A whisper is 50dB. "Noisy" is 85+dB. This FREE app is accurate and awesome. Kudos to the developer. Yes, it could flip when you flip the phone around; it doesn't. So what?! A+ Show more

Those of you silly folks who gave this app one or two stars need to google how decibels work and what sounds are measured at. For instance a whisper is 30 db. Normal conversation is around 60 to 80 db. Sounds shouldn't be more than 85db to protect your hearing. This app runs pretty close to accurate. It's gets five stars from me because it's free and looks nice! Worth the space on your device. Show more

iPhone 4 w/iOS 4.1 indicates 79 dB in my vehicle without the radio on and A/C fan on low. Actual dB is more like 63. A calibration "trim" adjustment would be a big plus. Show more
