    I don’t want a teacher
Used this app when it first came out. Really enjoyed it. Stopped for a little while as I was busy. Was excited to try again but now you can’t do anything without paying tons of money for lessons with a teacher. I miss the ok’d version of the app. Just videos and songs to play. Teachers are a nice touch but why can’t I use the other features without paying for one? Show more

    Highly Recommend Trala
I was searching for a teacher at the time I purchased the Trala app. I thought it would be a real challenge to find the right instructor for myself. I had a couple of violin apps already downloaded but discovered that the Trala app was not just another ordinary violin app. To my amazement, it was a door to a garden of musical treasures, of video lessons and exceptional professional violinists, almost 500 songs to practice on the app from beginner to advanced, scales and arpeggios. The app helps you in practicing rhythm, tempo, and pitch as you are learning. Then my Trala experience exceeded my expectations when I no longer had to search for a violin instructor. Trala has many professional violin instructors for you to choose from for private lessons. My violin instructor Rachael Miller has been instrumental in accelerating me forward in my musical journey with her teaching and encouragement. I hope one day I will play as fabulous as Rachael. Thank you,Trala, for providing a field of talent and opportunities that Trala offers for learning violinists to make their dreams and aspirations possible in becoming an actual reality. Show more

Awesome app and I love my teacher!
The Trala app has been awesome to work with. They make each new concept easy to understand even for an older learner like me! I am especially thankful for my sweet teacher, Rachael! She is so patient and encouraging! She is also an awesome performer and I hope to be as skilled as her one day! Show more

100% Worth it!! Best Musical Investment!
I’ve been using Trala for about a year now and I can whole-heartedly say that Trala along with the violin lessons, is the best investment I could have made for my violin journey. Trala App: -Intuitive UI, organized, and easy to use. Different sections entailing courses(ranging from beginner to expert level), in-app tuner, lesson access, and a huge song vault. -The in-app violin tuner is easy to use and I find it very accurate in tuning my violin before I start practicing. -As you progress, the courses the app provides a ton of detailed instructional videos with real life demonstrations of the piece being played, proper bowing technique and posture, and other helpful tips to keep in mind. They truly put a lot of work for an all-in-one platform for learning the violin! -The Song vault is super helpful with practicing a variety of pieces, ranging from beginner to expert level music sheets, along with a bunch of different scales available. -Trala often hosts zoom meetings where they bring professional violinists to teach a variety of different violin concepts, free of charge! It’s an incredible platform, especially being part of a community with violinists joining from all over the world! They even send recap videos if you can’t make the session! Violin Lessons: -After using the app I decided to supplement my learning with virtual lessons. They sent me a free lesson for free and I ended up signing up for a subscription with Rachael...WOW WOW WOW!! Firstly, she’s super friendly and made me feel comfortable right out the gate as a beginner violinist! I’m blown away the level of commitment she puts into providing feedback during our lessons, supplementary instructional videos she creates herself, and additional resources she provides me for in-between practice. It’s a no wonder Trala succeeds and helps so many students when they have people like Rachael on their team who care about their students, and an extensive self-paced structured approach for learning the violin all in their app. Extremely happy to have found this platform and recommend it to anyone seeking to learn enhance their violin journey! Definitely in it for the long-haul and 100% worth it!! Thank you to the Trala Team! Show more

Great way to learn violin at home
I’ve been using the Trala app for a few months now, and it’s fantastic how quickly I’ve been able to progress. The lessons and practice materials are well paced and structured, and the ability schedule private, 1-on-1 video lessons with professional instructors is a great way to support your progress. (I’ve personally taken lessons with Rachael Miller, and had a very good experience.) I’ve encountered a few technical hiccups in the software itself, but have been told by the support team that they are in the process of being ironed out. Overall would definitely recommend Trala as a great resource for an instrument that has historically been less accessible to home learners. Show more

    Scam app to get subscriptions
Another app that hides all functionality behind creating an account and signing up for a subscription. You can not use this app unless you sign up for a subscription. Do you get a “free” week? Of course. The goal is to get people to forget about that so they don’t cancel before the paid subscription starts. They *could* allow you to use the app for a week and then lock it behind a subscription, but then they’d get fewer accidental subscriptions and thus less money. They *could* use local storage and not require you create an account, but then they wouldn’t be able to sell your info and make less money. Edit: They responded and lied. They COULD offer the free week without requiring payment info until the free period ended. They choose not to. It’s a scam and the only reason Apple allows it is because Apple also benefits from users getting charged for services they don’t actually want or use. Show more

    Good
Really great but expensive to learn.

    Terrible
You literally need to pay for every single thing to use the app. There is no version that doesn’t require you to pay. I think that there should be a premium version and a regular version with less features. Show more

    Horrible
    This app is horrible.

    Rhythm input is off
Rhythm on app does not match what I’m playing, probably would have kept the app if this was not an issue.

Love Trala and the private lessons!!
I’ve been using Trala for 4 months now and I absolutely love it! I was skeptical about online learning at first but I’m so glad I took the leap of faith and tried it! It’s really helped me get started on the violin and the way the app is set up makes you really feel accomplished as you go along! I’ve been taking private lessons with Nikki Naghavi, and I highly recommend her!! She’s so patient and explains everything in a way that makes it easy and fun to learn. Every half hour lesson I leave with pearls of wisdom that I can put into practice- and I’m actually progressing!! I definitely recommend the app, private lessons and Nikki! Show more

    10/10 Recommend
I’ve always wanted to learn how to play an instrument, in particular the violin. As an adult student (early 30s) taking on an instrument that demands a dedicated and consistent practice schedule can be daunting. Much to my delight, I came across Trala having minimal experience reading music, no experience playing an instrument before, and no idea what I was doing or in for back in November. After a few weeks, Trala introduced the opportunity to be paired up with my current teacher, Nikki Naghavi. She has been instrumental to my success in both navigating the app with more depth and appreciation, technique and tips, as well as any song that I am interested in learning (that is often times in the Trala library of songs)! I went from “Twinkle, Twinkle” in November to starting Bach’s “Minuet 3” this week and I’m very proud of that feat! Although any student will find their happy medium between the app, a teacher, and any other resources at disposal (Suzuki books, other sheet music, etc), I particularly find accountability motivating which this app has. One more thing: I really like that the creators emphasize this platform as a means to make violin practice more accessible to students of all ages and walks of life. Show more

Must pay to do anything at all
Most music learning apps have a free version and a premium subscription. This app does not. To even get past the intro screen, you need to make a year-long commitment, or, a monthly subscription for double the price. I get that violin lessons are expensive, but there should at least be free things. Take Yousician, for example. They have a premium service that is great for more serious musicians. If you just want to learn the basics and be able to play a few songs, they have a free version. This app, once again, does not. I'm sure this app works great, but I don't think anyone should have to make a commitment without getting to try it out. And since most corporations are just hungry for money; devs, consider this. The reason so many apps have a free version with a premium subscription is because the free version hooks the people who download the app. They are more likely to buy the premium membership. Many people are just going to delete the app if they have to make a year long (or month long for double the price) commitment without seeing if they like the teaching style, content, etc. If there was a free version so that I could try it out, I would be much more likely to buy the subscription. Best violin app!
I no longer sound like I’m murdering a cat in my office and my husband doesn’t leave the house while I practice. The prices and bundles are super affordable and allow almost anyone to be able to start to play. The lessons are easy to follow and the app has a lovely flow. After only a short time I’m already comfortable playing songs and picking up music books from the music shop. Show more

    Great app
As a brand new, never picked up a violin before beginner, I’ve been using the app daily for about three weeks now and have seen rapid improvement. The lessons make sense and the song library available is pretty big. The pitch check function is really nice. There are a few features I wish they would change. The availability to stop the metronome and just look at the sheet music in the lessons would be nice. It’s difficult to concentrate on a single section when you have to start from the beginning every time. Also showing the sheet music from the beginning would be useful. There are a few bugs where videos won’t close and you have to restart the app, but that is rare. Overall a great app for the price. Show more

    No that good
I downloaded the app and right off the bat it tells you, you have to pay $20 per month

Frustrating to navigate around the map.
I’m intermediate to advanced but still find the tutorials helpful. I just find it difficult to navigate around the app and often have to close the app completely and go back in to get to where I want to go. Show more
