    Was better
This app was doing better before. With the update, now the app does not even keep the queue while the app is playing in the background. Looses the speaker connection and resets the queue to start from all over the beginning. However I may love my LS50Ws, this app is totally killing the experience. Show more

    Worthless
The app is terrible, impossible to stream anything without constant cutting even with a large WiFi bandwidth. Don’t waste your time downloading it. It’s incredible how a company that makes such wonderful speakers can develop this piece of crap. Show more

    Amazing how bad
So I have to purchase Roon just to control my LS50’s so I can stream via WiFi. Again, amazing how bad an app for such great speakers.

Listening to music should not be this painful!
Buyers remorse here. Actual speaker performance is everything I expected and more from a $1K bookshelf but app makes them almost unusable. Wish I would have read app reviews before purchasing. Show more

    You should be prosecuted
You should be prosecuted for making false statements about capabilities of these speakers but limiting them exclusively to this ridiculous app. It doesn’t work, it doesn’t allow to connect to the speakers and it’s not going to. Developer should do some time behind bars, just saying. Show more

    Keep disconnecting
I am constantly disconnected from the speakers. Sometimes it keeps being unreachable and I need to repair it. Why can’t I use the speakers connected to my router with a wire network? It works for Spotify but not for Tidal. Show more

Thank God Their Speakers Are Better Than Their App
Who designed these apps. Two apps, why. Wi-Fi, streams for 20 seconds & cuts out. Seriously KEF, you need to solve this problem & soon. If I wanted Bluetooth sound I could have gotten a cheaper speaker . This makes me wonder if I should have just gone for it & gone w/ the Dynaudio Show more

Great Speakers with the worst app
KEF makes amazing speakers but they have not worked out the kinks. I have used KEF speakers for many years and unless you are hard wired via ethernet this app does not work. Even after ethernet connectivity, this app loses the connection and you cannot go back to the playlist or song you are currently streaming. Very dissapointed. Show more

Great speakers (LS50W) torpedoed by a crap app
The LS50W are without a doubt an amazing all in one streamer/dac/amp/speaker combinatation. Sound quality, dynamics, detail and image are really impressive for a speaker of this size and at this price point. But...we’re not here to review the speaker are we. The KEF Stream app is absolutely the Achilles heal of this total package. As much as I love the idea of this being a plug and play system to stream Spotify or Tidal without any additional hardware..it’s just not a viable reality given the poor reliability/stability of the KEF Stream app. It constantly drops the speaker connection while other devices on my network continue to operate flawlessly. My sense is (as others have opined) that KEF, as one of the legends of British loudspeaker design and engineering, just don’t have the depth of resources and engineering talent to execute at the level needed to be a top tier player in the digital domain. I truly hope they can make the shift and elevate their capability in this regard as I’m confident they can deliver best in class digital audio technologies and loudspeakers if they can get this right. As it stands today, that is not the case. For that reason, 1 star for the app holding back a pair of 5 star speakers. My solution has been to until Roon and simply utilize the speakers as a Roon endpoint. Show more

Great Speakers Ruined by Terrible Software
I can’t wirelessly stream my music to these speakers from Tidal. KEF Control (a separate app), shows I’m connected to the speakers, but the connection in KEF Stream is non existent or at best will connect and drop constantly. Had I known I would have this experience for the last year I never would have spent the money on these speakers. Show more

    Still not working
Great effort, but still not working correct, fails to find the lsx speakers but when it dose it loses connection again, audio intermittently cuts out. Bye pass this app and use AirPlay until they fix this mess Show more

    Quits constantly
There is no other streaming from iPhone option that takes advantage of both Tidal’s superior quality and KEF’s superior fidelity. Unfortunately, unless you enjoy constantly having to reopen and restart playlists and albums after every track, you are in for a jarring experience. Show more

Don’t trust an old school British Hi-Fi Company...
With your streaming app that is. The LS50 speakers are great, yet are handicapped by an app that is as unusable as it is unstable. Think multiple restarts of the app and speakers due to connectivity drops despite that my Google Wifi point is less than a foot away from the master speaker. The app has not been updated in almost a year, despite the 1.8 star rating here, proof that KEF either doesn’t care or has given up. I don’t which is worse, honestly. On top of all this, the Tidal integration is a minimalist horrid interpretation of the original version. Likely selling these speakers and moving to a Sonos. Show more

    Works okay with iTunes
First the dumb: you must find and turn off speakers from Control app. Then go back to Steaming app, which will find your iTunes library, and then you can stream over WiFi (once your speakers are setup on your network, which isn’t difficult.) Now the okay: Latest app ver. will let you adjust volume in app using side buttons on iPhone (so you don’t have to switch back to control app), however when you are not in app, volume up/down don’t work. You can create playlist in the app, and it will also populate playlists from your iTunes library. You don’t have to use tidal to steam if your iTunes library is good enough. Finally the good: speakers are outstanding, with good looks, soundstage, base response, and crisp detail at high volume, even over WiFi. KEF apps are taking hard knocks (maybe deservedly do). I am posting a review for iPhone/iTunes users to allow that app experience with KEF is okay. Speakers are worth the minor annoyances of WiFi streaming. You can always connect your laptop or iPad to USB port. The included KEF remote will allow play, advance, back, and volume control. Show more

    Speakers great...however
I’ve hardly been able to listen to them because of the worst software I’ve encountered in years. This is seriously software cira 1995. Truly awful. Such a shame and such a waste of the speakers gathering dust Show more

KEF + Tidal = Change to Spotify
I was a Tidal user and desperately wanted to continue using it with the wonderful KEF speakers, but it simply is not functional — keeps dropping out, always skips tracks, etc. I’d like to think that I can hear the difference between Tidal and Spotify, although haven’t properly tested myself, but the one thing I’m sure of is the difference between music playing and music not playing. Unfortunately, KEF + Tidal = music not playing. Hence what I presume was meant to be a great partnership between Tidal and KEF has resulted in a bunch of others and I jumping ship and switching to Spotify. This probably doesn’t impact KEF so much, but if I were an executive at Tidal, I’d make darn sure it was fixed quickly, or I’d drop the partnership. It can’t be good for business. Sure ain’t good for listening to music. Show more

Same problem as other reviewers state
    * have to make sure you open KEF control via the icon in KEF Stream so speakers connect if you want to stream * disconnection and track skipping is common * sometimes the only way to reset after a disconnect is reboot phone * folks, this is unacceptable for $2200 pair of speakers Show more

    Horrible
Does not work at all. When I try to play a song it just cycles through all of my songs flashing the screen and nothing plays. Worthless.
  • Yahonza, 13.06.2019
    This app is useless
Really,KEF, when the app doesn’t work, don’t release it.
  • MountainKidd, 10.03.2019
Understand that it has limited features...
... but at least make those work. Search doesn’t work on dlna. Volume button only works half the time. Doesn’t pay many of my songs. Make it better, KEF!
