    Not ready for prime time
The samples lack depth of velocity and also sound little better than basic midi drums. I'd pass until they get better samples going

    Needs work.
I was a beta tester. Coming along but a few things. On learning guitar function is good. But it needs to be a way to reset ai to start over again instead of closing the whole app out. All the midi needs to be drag and drop even in the AI part. The bottom off the screen hides the add to editor function. Also for export there needs to be more options. Like google drive, or even save to iPad. Just more ways to save and send. Also it is hard to find where you can make the drum Set more or less aggressive. I found it at first but I lost it and couldn't find it. Just make that an easy feature. This is a great idea. I know you guys listen and I know this will be just as good as all you products. 20$ for only 4 drums
We're is the midi function now? You say in version 1.0.2 I can't play with my Edrum

I own 90% of positive grids apps love the company
The X drummer is fun and amazing, just playing a riff and having the AI produce a groove is awesome . How ever there are a few things that would make this app funkaliscous ! It would be nice if you could record your live guitar riffs from bias fix etc into the X drummer app .As a guitarist most of us would love to record riffs and manipulate beats within the same app for sake of inspiration and ease of work flow ! The drum sounds are realistic and very usable ! This App just needs recording tracks that allows you to put your guitar ideas down ! Great drum feel and tone very realistic but with out being able to record yourself playing other instruments, it's just a high end realistic metronome Show more

    Needs work...
UPDATE: Upgraded to the new 2017 iPad with iOS 10.3.1 and app will no longer launch. UPDATE 2: 1.0.1 App update fixed the launch issue. I have to agree with the other reviewer. This app isn't complete, and is quite underwhelming. Given the company that is developing it, I have faith it will be great one day, but as it stands, it is an incomplete product and overpriced for what you get compared to more mature offerings. I really hope they have more in store for this app, because it is a great concept! It could have used more development before asking people to pay $10 for it, though! Show more

Not yet worth the hefty price
I wish I hadn't gotten excited and downloaded before researching better. AI only works through the microphone input on the app -- no interapp or audiobus inputs, nor importing recorded audio from another app through audio paste -- so no hope in adding beats to stuff you have recorded in a daw on the iPad. I sincerely want my money back. Show more

    Jumped the Shark...
I cannot believe that a company with the credibility of Positive Grid would release a $20 app, that has ZERO direction, manual, links to some tutorials, etc... I guess if you are as smart as this AI drum program, it won't be a problem. As for me, and the dregs who actually like a tad of "How to" when we shell out $20 for a dam iPad app, we're out of luck. Sounds great and makes sense (think EZ Drummer) that can't save my work or export it
I love their other stuff and I think this will be great, once I can actually save projects locally without it always initializing before saving. And exporting will be awesome...assuming I can stop getting the weird Dropbox error. It's a pleasure to use, although you'll find some loops don't end as smoothly as they would in something like EZ Drummer 2 when looping on a different BPM than originally recorded against. I wonder if external MIDI feeding the kit would help with the odd gaps and chokes that happen on the last one or two beats. I'm sure it will be dialed in, and for now I do a lot more testing of drum ideas on it, with different bars and counts for various MIDI patterns. I feel like it will be great on its own, although I haven't tried it in AudioBus or AUM to feed a downstream DAW yet. Show more

    Much potential, little delivery
The good: it's stable on my iPad Air 2. The bad: this app serves no practical purpose aside from a fancy looking practice tool. There is no way to transfer any song that you've pieced together from its limited grooves to a iOS or computer based daw other than a single two track mix with no mixing options. I sure hope this app sees some extensive feature additions soon. Show more
