Are you a beginner musician, or thinking about playing great music again? Then Note Tutor is for you. Basic music theory is presented in a fun, flash-card game format, enabling you to memorize the basics you need to read music quickly and effectively, wherever you are. Note Tutor starts from the beginning, and helps you build music note recognition through random repetition. Learn basic note recognition in a fun, flash-card game format. Master the basics quickly and easily. Applicable to all instruments and styles of music. Start from the beginning, and advance to the next version of Note Tutor to build on your solid basic music theory skills. To use Note Tutor, simply identify the note by pressing the correct A, B, C, D, E, F, or G button. If you are right, you get one point and advance to the next note! If you are wrong, you lose a point, but you get to try again. The score shows how many notes you are recognizing correctly per minute. If you slow down, your score may go down, even if you do not make mistakes... so try to go as fast and as accurately as you can! Note Tutor now allows you to choose whether you want to practice only the treble clef, only the bass clef, or both clefs at once. We have also added an option that allows you to choose how Note Tutor displays the score: kids may prefer to see the points scored, while more serious students may prefer the "points per minute" display that helps you improve your speed and accuracy. Both new features are accessed by pressing the "i" button to reveal the flipside control screen. If you want to practice the Tenor Clef or the Alto clef, please consider purchasing the Tenor Tutor application!

    Great
Great for people who want to learn how to convert fingerings to octaves. It could be full screen though.

    Straightforward and solid app
I’ve used a few other sight reading training apps but this one is clear, easy to use and solid. You can tailor settings to focus on the range of notes and keys you want to work on. Just right - and free! I would happily pay for it but the developer doesn’t even have a donation button in the app. Show more

    Do not download
I downloaded this app to help me refresh and get quicker with learning my notes. Unfortunately, this app is CRAP! It was telling me that I was wrong when it came to a G calling it a B. When clearly the 2nd line is a G hence the acronym (E-very G-ood B-oy D-oes F-ine) and for spaces (F-A-C-E) so for it to tell me the 2nd line is B when it's clearly G is absurd. So update your app and get the information correct. It's misleading and other musician will think that you are right when in actuality they are learning wrong. Show more

    Great app
Nothing fancy just a simple way to learn how to read notes and it worked great, like flash cards easy and clear!!! I have been learning how to play the piano for a month or two with a teacher but couldn't learn the notes well enough and it kept getting in my way of progress. Enter this FREE and great app, 3 days later of about 20min a day and I know them well, a week later and I was fluent ? If you are not sure of the notes at first you can press the note and it will tell you the answer rather than pressing mindlessly until you get it. Thank you for this app and for making it free! Great App!
This is a nice simple app to learn notes. It's very cut & dry, which is nice for just having a few extra minutes here & there to review/learn your notes. It does exactly what I want. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is for limited ability to practice both the treble & bass clefs at the same time. Great customer service & a very nice app! Show more

    It's ok
The app does the job but to really kick it up a notch it needs a few small improvements. First of all, the points/minute system doesn't work because the is a pause between displaying each note. In other words, you can't measure your speed very well when there is a pause between each note. I love just about everything else, but there is one other thing that the app REALLY needs. It needs to track which notes you get wrong and which notes you get right, like other music apps. This way you can make it so more of the notes you don't know show up than the ones you do know, as well as letting you know what you need to work on. I give this a three out of five because the pause between notes really annoy me and it performs as expected. Show more

A truly useful and fun app!!
Wow! I heard about this from my music teacher who recommends it highly. I am learning music with my children, and have found it invaluable in learning to read notes in an interactive yet simple manner. It is simple enough to practice in public with some time to kill and yet engaging enough to keep my 7-year-old entertained. Finally a game that actually teaches something!! I highly recommend it to parents whose kids are learning music, and for us more "mature" beginners it's a fun way to learn painlessly. Thank You! I would have paid more! Show more

    Note Tutor
This latest version is the best yet. Many little refinements that make using the app more intuitive. This app allows me to practice music wherever I am. I recently started learning bass clef and I couldn't imagine a better way to learn it. Occcasssionallly when life gets crazy busy and I can't make it to my practice space I can still do valuable work and keep a sense of connection with music. This app is not just for beginners. I am a serious and learned musician and this tool is very useful and helpful, especially if you play a transposing instrument. Show more
